Remarks
The first reason for choosing this college was it is in my home state and the college is recognised as the second best college in the whole of North-East after IIT-Ghy. Another reason for choosing was because in the range of my rank of JEE, I got satisfactory branch in this particular college. Furthermore, after going through some reviews online about infrastructure, placement etc, I became aware of the significance of the college and hence choose this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course syllabus is updated with all the basic to advanced knowledge is about electronics is covered in the syllabus and also ample subjects of programming and data structures are included in the course structure. Regarding industrial exposure, it is not that much progressive. Students get involved in various internships after mostly after second year on their own. College seldom recommends internship opportunities. Faculties are not that bad. They are helping hands in any student problems. Notably Wasim Arif sir, Dr. Taimoor Khan sir are some of the teachers who remaine indulged in student activities.
Placement Experience
The placement statistics are very good for a college situated in a 2nd tier city like Silchar. Every year, campus placement starts from July end and takes place throughout the year. The branches like Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering have placement statistics of around 100% while the placement in the other branches are also upto the mark. Last year companies like Archesium, Amazon, etc visited the campus and salary as high as 30 LPA was offered. Overall the placement situation is satisfying.
College Events
The campus life is never dull for anyone. The Institute has various kinds of fests, seminars, cultural programs, cleanliness drive program that take place throughout the year. The two major fests are Incandescence and Tecnoesis. The Incandescence is the cultural extravaganza of the college that goes on for four days while the Tecnoesis is tecno-management festival of NIT Silchar. Both of these fests are recognised as one of the biggest fest in the whole of North-East and attract crowd and participants from all over the world.
Campus Life
The infrastructure of the college is moderately good. There's not much renovation to the age-old buildings though the beauty of those buildings are eye-catching enough. In terms of sports facilities, NIT Silchar has done significantly well. It has two huge grounds for all kinds of outdoor sports and a large Sports Complex where all the indoor sports take place like Table Tennis, Badminton, kho-kho etc. A well equipped Gym is also included in the sport complex. In addition to these, there's a basketball court and volleyball courts in each of the hostel wings. Inside the campus, the students can enjoy free campus wifi which is pretty good.
Hostel Facilities
There are total 9 boys hostels for the Undergraduate and postgraduate students and 3 girls hostel. In addition to this, there is married PGs for married students. All of the hostels have sufficient spacious rooms for students. The hostel authority does a sumptuous dedicated work in the everyday cleanliness and maintenance of the hostels. Apart from the hostel designated for the first year students, all the other hostels have their own football, cricket and volleyball courts of their own. The Institute's LAN facility connects all the hostels and the speed is considerably well. Overall, hostel facility is decent at NIT Silchar.
