Remarks
I took admission through the Delhi University portal in June, and had to send in a separate application to the college itself, as per JMC guidelines. After the first cut-offs were released, I carefully examined my options for my course of choice, that is English Honors, and then tried to match the colleges with NIRF rankings. JMC was ranked in the top 30 colleges in Delhi for English, and hence I decided to take admission there. When I arrived in college to submit documents for admission, I was glad to see that the student volunteers and teachers were very friendly and helpful, and I made up my mind then to continue here instead of migrating to another college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very interesting and I love the syllabus. The faculty at the JMC English Department is one of the best.
Internships Opportunities
The Placement Cell does a good job in informing students about internship opportunities, though none of them are on campus.
Placement Experience
The Placement Cell in college is quite prominent, but there are limitations due to the fact that majority of courses offered are Arts.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is Rs.15,000 per year, but because I was an outstation student, I had to spend extra on boarding and travel. Moreover, there is expenditure in buying books.
Campus Life
JMC has a very happening campus life, with multiple societies, events and fests. The annual college fest Montage is popular across DU. The building is slightly old, so the classrooms are by no means high-tech. Nevertheless the library and gardens are comfortable.
Hostel Facilities
There is no hostel facility on campus, so I found accommodation outside at a working women's hostel. There are also many PG facilities available near the college.
Other Applied Colleges
Central University of Kerala | BA International Relations
The college atmosphere did not seem appealing.
Central University of Karnataka | BA English
The college is in a remote location.
Sri Kerala Varma College, Calicut University | BA English
It was too close to home, and I wanted more exposure.
