Remarks

SBSC is a reputed college of Delhi University south campus. The faculty is highly professional. Infrastructure is good and well maintained. The admissions are based on merit i.e your 12th class percentage. The admissions start in the month of July or August. Initially, you have to apply online on the official website of DU. DU releases cut off for each college and different courses every year, you have to check which college you are eligible for and then you have to submit your documents to the respective college via offline mode. SBSC offers a variety of courses like BCOM (HONS), B.A(HONS), B.COM (programme), BA (programme) etc. You can either opt for the morning college or the evening college. The cut off for the morning and the evening college differs. The morning college starts at 8:30 am and the evening college starts at 4:30. The college also has a well maintained library in which you can find books on almost all subjects.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I have always had an inclination towards literature and language. Eng Hons was the course for me. It's a 3-year course. The teaching faculty is very competent and most of the teachers have done their PhD from Delhi university itself, they have good knowledge of the subject and make things easy to understand. Exams are held twice a year on a semester basis. If you have critical knowledge of your syllabus then you will easily pass. Questions are not asked directly, instead, you are asked to critically analyze the text.

Placement Experience

3.5

Students can apply for placements after the completion of their course. Some courses have better placement opportunities compared to others. The students become eligible to apply for placements in their third year. Companies approach students through the college, and the selection is based on the marks scored by the student in their college exams and sometimes the selection procedure also involves an interview. The highest package so far has been Rs 100000/ month. Most of the times the package offered is not that good. Around 40% of the students get placements. I will be applying for competitive exams once i finish my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

You have to pay fess on a yearly basis. For my course it is Rs 6850/- per year, all the things are included in it except for the exam fees. Exam fees you have to pay one month prior to the start of exams, it is approximately 1100. You can pay fees through online modes like Paytm. The fees are thus less and you can thus avail the best teaching faculty without many expenses. Scholarships are also provided on basis of merit. You can apply for recruitment in campus jobs as well.

Campus Life

5

The campus offers a lot to explore. Infrastructure is really good, the college has a well-maintained library with almost all sorts of books, magazines and newspapers. The annual fest is held once a year. A popular celebrity, most commonly singer, is invited. Departmental fests are also held and students are encouraged to put up stalls to showcase their talent. A variety of other cultural programmes are also held over the year. The college has a good infrastructure to support sportsmen, it has a football ground, a basketball court, a tennis court, a cricket ground and it also has facilities for indoor games like table tennis, carrom and chess. Various dance societies and cultural societies are there in which students can take admission. These societies regularly go to other colleges and different cities to perform.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I live in a pg. The cost of a pg in Delhi is obviously high. My monthly rent is Rs 10000. It has got two rooms and an attached bathroom. It has also got an air conditioner and is semi-furnished. There is a tiffin service. The food quality is not that good. There is no specific registration process for pg. There are local property dealers who have their ties with the building owners, so you can't really contact an owner directly, you will have to look for a pg through the dealer only. The locality in which I live is Chirag Dilli. It is near to the college and that is the reason why I took accommodation here.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
