Remarks

The college management is exceptionally hard working and they make the environment student friendly! All doubts and queries of students are looked into and cleared as best as they can. The college offers allround development for a student and personally I can see the positive change in me. This college will not only train you to be a good doctor but also a good human being, getting you ready for the big world out there!

Entrance Preview

I took the MAHE admission test in 2014 and got a score of 160/200. Kasturba medical college is a prestigious college, one of the top medical colleges in India and top most in the private section. The college offers everything, from an exceptional curriculum and faculty to opportunities for budding students in the field of research, diagnostics and extra curricular activities such as dancing, singing, sports etc.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum is extremely student friendly and thorough with regular lectures and clinics. The lectures are organized and interactive with visual aids for the students while in the clinics the students get first hand experience with the patients and diagnostic procedures.

Internships Opportunities

My college provides internship to all students who've successfully completed their final year. The general stipend is Rs.25000 for an intern. The overall experience shall be a knowledgeable one because the interns are prepared for the bigger world out there. Hospital ethics and discipline is what is learnt during internship along with experience to perform diagnostic procedures and first hand patient doctor interaction.

Placement Experience

4.5

Since it is a medical college there are no placements. although the internship offered is brilliant. The interns work as part of the different hospital units, assist in surgeries, work with different departments in the hospital. Internship in the hospital is very educational and helpful

College Events

5

There are conferences held by KMC such as IGCLA, CME of different departments. Various inter batch and inter college sports festivals are held such as MIST and VERVE SPORTS. Various cultural fests are held such as UTSAV AND VERVE CULTURALS. The college also boasts of several clubs and committees such as sports committee, fine arts committee, social welfare committee etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As it is a private college, the fee structure is expensive. But the facilities offered by the college is upto par with the fees paid. The laboratories are modern with all the latest machinery and equipment. The student is given a laptop from the college's side. The fee is high, but the college is worth it.

Fees and Financial Aid

The SBI has collaborated with the college to give student loans at a low interest. There is also a scholarship programme with details available on the website.

Campus Life

5

Gender ratio is equal, with equal opportunities given to both girls and boys. There is no ragging and the anti ragging squad is pretty strict about it. The students diversity is phenomenal, with students from all over India and also Malaysian students. There are seats for the NRI students as well. People are friendly and work well together as a team and it is a great place for development and exposure!

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facilities are excellent with non ac and ac hostels, with attached mess. There are enough rooms in single and double occupancy for 2000 students. The mess food is hygienic and good with food ranging from south Indian to north Indian cuisine.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni is very active and the senior students always help their juniors with studies as well as extra curriculars.

Exam Structure

Exams are held semester wise. Every semester ends with the internals or end semester exams and at the end of the year, the university or final exams are held. Exams are not frequent and the scene is pretty chilled out. The College also assesses the students through end semester mcq tests for assessment of the student's progress and preparation required.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is extremely dedicated and experienced. They go beyond their limitations to help the students offering extra help in studies and research opportunities. They interact with the students and make the lectures interesting and fun. The teachers also participate actively in sports and cultural events!

Course Curriculum Overview:

curriculum is designed to be highly relevant and comprehensive for modern medical practice.Early Clinical Exposure is One of the strongest aspects of the curriculum is introducing students to patients in their very second year. The final year of the curriculum—the Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) is effective it prepares students for the high-pressure environment of Indian healthcare, making them very capable of handling emergencies and outpatient departments (OPD ). Students feel that lectures are still too focused on passive PowerPoint presentations.Rigorous schedule, integrating "Life Skills" or "Stress Management" modules more formally into the foundation course would be helpful. The university exams (RGUHS) are generally fair but require a very high level of descriptive writing and practical precision.
