Review from a current student

IIT KHARAGPUR is the mother of all IITs. The campus has peaceful atmosphere due to Greenery. I feel lucky to have world class teaching facilities. Admission takes place through JEE ADVANCED and selected can use JoSSA while selecting different colleges, admission process will be in June.

To be honest I got my course due to my rank,all I wanted was IIT experience. But I feel lucky that I got applied Geology as my course. Undoubtedly we have world class,well qualified and extremely experienced faculty. They use traditional and high tech approach for teaching. Term exams are just twice a semester and not too difficult to pass.

From the penultimate semester students are eligible for campus placements. Around 3OO firms including Google, Microsoft,apple offer around 2500 jobs. Highest package goes above 1.5 crores while average package is around 60000. Nearly 80% gets places while others pursue higher studies and some others have startup ideas. My focus is to get a placement with a decent package.

We have both cultural and tech fest namely SPRING FEST and KSHITIJ respectively. These fests are the biggest one's over the country. They are conducted in January for a week. We have huge digitalized library. Classrooms with centralised ACs. There are numerous clubs run by students which help us in personality development and career options. Sports play important role in the institue, competitions like inter IIT and inter Hall are played for 2-3 months.

An average indian middle class family can easily pay the fee and it costs around 5 lakhs for entire course. We can also avail education loans at low interest. The fees remain fixed/constant except if there is any hike from the central government. The possibility of Getting a scholarship and financial assistance from the institue are very high. I'm currently getting FOUNDATION FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND ACCESS scholarship.

Rooms are provided in hostels which are inside the campus. We will be provided every basic facility needed in the room(like fans, lights, tables, chairs etc). We have a decent meal quality and menu.
