The good aspect of the college is that it is a very old and reputed college. It was established in 1960. It is one of the best engineering colleges in ASSAM. Here admission is done through ASSAM CEE which is conducted by ASTU. One can find more about JEC on their official website jecassam.ac.in
Course Curriculum Overview
I have chosen the CSE branch because the CSE of JEC is very well known for its good faculty members as well as its placements. The course curriculum is relevant. All the faculties are well qualified. Most of them are p.hD holders. Also, there are many faculties who are passed out of different IITs. All the exams here are conducted very properly from time to time.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides at least three internship opportunities to every student. Mechanical Engineering students go to INDIAN RAILWAY, OIL, etc for internships. Like that electrical engineering students go to APDCL, Civil engineering students go to PWD, etc. College also inspired the students to take online internships and inform them about these from time to time.
Placement Experience
The students are eligible for placements in their 7thsemester. The placements in JEC are not so bad. In computer science and engineering around 80%, in Mechanical Engineering around 40%, in electrical engineering around 45%, in civil engineering around 20% and in instrumentation around 10% of students get placements every year. Companies like TCS, WIPRO, VEDANTA, BY JU'S, DOUBTNUT, COGNIGENT, HUL come to the college every year. Also, PSUs like OIL, NRL, ONGC, APDCL come to the college every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
As a govt engineering college, it does not take too much fee from the students. The odd semester admission fees go around 10000 and the even semester admission fees go around 6000. Also, for exam form fillup they take around 1500 each time. Also, there are some other fees which are included in the courses. Students get all the govt scholarship along with private scholarships like NSP, ISHAN UDAY, JINDAL FOUNDATION, HDFC, etc.
Campus Life
The campus life here is very excellent. There is a tech-fest named the phoenix which is held every year in the month of March. Also, the college celebrates its annual sports in very joyful colours. The students of this college get many chances to perform well in sports programs. The college has social groups like PROYASH, ROBOTICS CLUB, PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB, DRAMA CLUB, etc.
Interview Experience
There is no group discussion held for the admission. The only admission criteria are merit. They prefer students on the basis of merit. If someone gets Under 1200 rank then there is a high probability that he/she will get admitted to JORHAT ENGINEERING COLLEGE.
