Remarks
The college management is very kind and humble. It's just that when it comes to academics, the management is much more strict than any other college in campus. According to me that is right, as the exams which they conduct regularly helped me in clearing my final exams.
Entrance Preview
I took MHTCET back in 2011 and I scored 96 out off 200. Being an home university student, I had a better chance of getting admission in Sinhgad institutes as my rank was very low. I wanted to pursue degree in computer sciences, hence I had applied to 8 different colleges for admission in CAP round. The Directorate of Technical Education back then allotted me this college on the basis of my rank and category.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is set by Savitribai Phule Pune University. Some of the units are outdated, whereas rest are conceptual. If you get the concepts right, you can easily sail through. Whatever is being taught, a portion of it is relevant to industry.
Internships Opportunities
No college doesn't provide any internship. You've to step into market and look for internships on your own. It's not preferable to do one as there's hardly any time between 2 semesters. In your final year, you can afford to take up an internship as you've to do final year project. Stay in touch with your seniors, keep your faculty informed about what kind of work you want to do, as the themselves have loads of industry contact. Show your passion, you will surely get one. Don't look for any stipend as in under graduation, you're not skilled enough for the market.
Placement Experience
Placement is done altogether for all college students who come under Sinhgad Institute. Sinhgad has got an excellent placement record. Focus on getting 70% + in your exams, and you will be allowed to sit for all the companies. More than 100 companies visit every year. Depending upon your score, your knowledge and your interest you can grab a package from anything between 2.5 LPA to 12LPA. Tip: Do extra projects apart from your course to get good packages.
College Events
Sinhgad campus is famous for hosting technical, cultural and management events. Sinhgad organizes one of the biggest event in Pune known as SINHGAD KARANDAK. Every year there are performances by international artists (Eg. Farhan Akhtar, Edward Maya, Chainsmokers etc.) It's one of the most happening institutes when it comes to events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees is feasible and is bit less as compared to other competing engineering colleges. It's one of the most economical colleges of Pune. Every penny spent out here has its worth. PS: Smt. Kashibai Navale College of Engineering comes in top 5 engineering colleges under Savitribai Phule Pune University.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships can be availed as per your category and for loans contact banks at campus. There are 3 banks, Central Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Maharashtra Bank.
Campus Life
The campus is located at the outskirts of the city(10 mins drive from center city) and sits on top of a mountain. It's huge and has around 20 other colleges offering different courses. At the campus you're completely safe. You need not worry about anything as guards are there within every 200 meters and they're very active. The campus life is the best you can get after Symbiosis campus but over here you will find students from all over India with different cultural, economical background. It's fun to study out here. There are lot many opportunities for students who love sports. We're one of the few campuses with football field and a cricket ground. Each and every week there's some or the other activity that happens at campus, so just take part in it, volunteer for it and just make yourself noticeable. One can grow very well over here as a professional. During Karandak, there are over 30 workshops, over 200 events wherein international delegates are invited to judge them. With full confidence I can say that life at Sinhgad is unmatched to life at any campus.
Hostel Facilities
I used to stay with my family in Pune so I never stayed at hostel. But as my friends used to live there so I used to visit their hostel frequently. The average rent is pretty low as you share your room with 4 other guys. The room structure is like 1 room, 1 bathroom, 1 toilet, 4 beds, 4 tables, 4 chairs and 4 racks. It's bit congested. I would rather suggest to get a house outside the campus if you've your own bike/car to commute to college. Again it depends on your choice. Hostel food is way too pathetic. But to save your life there are plenty of fast food joints around the campus. So food will never be a worry for you.
Alumni/Alumna
My experience was very good with my seniors. They helped me in studying subjects, developing projects, drafting technical papers and in placement process. I used to always talk to my seniors for each and everything in order to stay updated. As described that there are events happening all around the year. So as a student you can participate or volunteer for those events. These events will help you in making good contacts with seniors.
Exam Structure
Exam structure is very straightforward. There are 2 class tests during the course, then prelim exam before final exam and then final exams which is conducted by university. There are 4 questions from each of the 6 units, off which you have to solve any 2. Practical or lab exams are also very straightforward. Do your assignments well and you will sail through.
Faculty
The faculty of college is well educated and has knowledge of the subject. A set of faculty is also pursuing their PhD degree from international institutions and so there is a lot of scope to work with them and do research work. The faculty openly promotes new ideas and supports students in developing their ideas.
