Remarks
I applied to Kirori Mal College on the Delhi University Admissions portal. I applied for a few colleges which were providing the course of Geography honours. The colleges I applied to were Kirori Mal College and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College and ultimately chose KMC as it met my cutoff requirements in the first cutoff list itself. No quota was availed. The minimum marks are 97% for General in 1st cut off list, however it reduces to about 93% till the 3rd cutoff list. I don't have an idea about the min. age. The admission process was very tedious and exhausting as it took a long time even though there were no extreme crowds due to highly incompetent admin officials. There was no counselling day.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have always had an interest in the field of geography and environment. Faculty student ratio is about 1:60 Most faculty members had M.A., M. Phil and PhD in the field of Geography. Their teaching methods however were categorically old schooled and highly theoretic and had limited practical application. The exams were held timely on December and May for each semester. Passing the exam was relatively easy.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure was very affordable as it was about 10,000 for a year of study. No on campus scholarships are provided, there is financial assistance for people with disabilities. No campus placements were present for my course.
Campus Life
The annual fest is called Renaissance and it is held in February/March every year for a period of 3 days. Almost all the course books were available in the library, however, their quantity was limited. The classrooms had a poor infrastructure with poorly maintained fans and lights and other geographies specific equipment like maps and sheets. Almost all major sports are organised in the college. A lot of extracurricular activities are present in the college as well in form of Theatre, Music, Dance, Debate, Social Entrepreneurship Groups, Event management groups etc. All the groups were student run bodies. Some examples are Players, Musoc, Enactus.
