BEST PLACE TO LEARN

As mentioned earlier, our college has higher cut off, lower fees as well as better faculty members. I consider this to be the ideal college to do B.Com with because most people don't generally look out for placement doing just B.com. This college is for learning. It has been a really prestigious college. And I have heard about this college from different teachers and elders. Talking about admission process, it has changed recently due to COVID-19. Previously it used to be offline but now it is done online. And one can always find notice regarding to date of admissions in the college website which is https://www.goenkacollege.net .

We have B.Com(Hons) in Accounting and Finance M.Com(Hons) and general MBA course available in our college. For me B.com(hons) was the only suitable course as I had passed my HS, then joined the college for a bachelor degree. Faculty to student ratio is about 1:50. The teachers here are highly qualified. Some teachers use traditional teaching method whereas some teachers use modern approach. Hence students won't feel bored regarding the method of teaching by the teachers. Exams were taken in our college timely as prescribed by the University of Calcutta. And we all know that University of Calcutta is very reputed and ranked amongst the universities in India.

From Semester 5 students become eligible for campus placements. Many big companies like Deloitte, KPMG, Wipro, EY, etc. visited our college for pre placement offers but their intake is very low as compared to the number of students in our college. About 10% students get placed. Highest package was 23 LPA and lowest was 2 LPA. average was around 4-5 LPA. I didn't apply for placement as I didn't want to do job after B.com. I would probably do some internship and get into MBA.

Fees structure is very low and affordable. It is about 865 rupees per semester. Talking about scholarship, students can avail scholarships which are given by the government. If you come here for job then it is not the right place. For learning it is first class.

QUEST(annual fest of Goenka) is conducted every year. But due to the COVID-19 now it is stopped and no online fest is done. The library is very big and lots of books are available but one has to go to the 5th floor to reach the library. Annual Sports meet has also conducted every year before COVID-19 in the Presidency University ground or Maidan ground. There is no official social group, clubs or websites run by the students but we have a college union who were very helpful in the past days.
