Remarks
I have always wanted to pursue my career in ASTROPHYSICS. This university provides a specialisation in astrophysics under BSc PHYSICS (Hons.) Course which is very rare to find in universities in India. That was the main reason why I chose this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course so far is going pretty good. I chose this course because I wanted to pursue astrophysics. I just completed second year so the third is where you start your specialization course. So the main course is yet to be experienced. The curriculum is to the point and all the required books and all that is always being recommended to us by the faculties. They are always ready to help the students and are well versed in their circle of teaching. The best part of the university is that all the exams and tests are held at the right time and nothing affects their schedule. The exams are moderately difficult but always stick to the syllabus.
Internships Opportunities
I just completed my second year so I will be enrolling for placements in the coming months. But as far as I have heard the students get really good placement opportunities and the faculties help in all forms to help students .
Placement Experience
The college provides a good amount of placement opportunities. But as a BSc student, I am aiming for higher studies. I am looking towards doing my Masters in ASTROPHYSICS abroad. The students become eligible for their placements from their second last semester onwards. Some companies that provided placements are Byjus, Adani Oil and Gas, Think Gas, Haryana City Gas, Genesis Ray Energy, Jaro Education, Wipro, Infosys. One of the highest packages were 9LPA, and average is 4LPA.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is pretty high for all the courses in the university. They provide scholarship to the students who excel in their academic performance. The course I am doing has comparatively less fees but all the others are really high.
Campus Life
There are a lot of programs and sports related competitions and so much more in the campus. The annual Fest is UURJA which is the biggest cultural fest of UPES. Different kinds of programs including musical bands, group dances, dramas, etc are held on this 2 days Fest. The campus library has all required books of all courses and is a big space that can contain a big amount of students and provides study areas too. Sports is very active and competitions are held regularly. There are many clubs which students can choose from to join according to their liking. There are dance clubs, music clubs, drama clubs . Some social chapters are SPE, SGE, ASME.
Admission
For engineering students they have a written test to give for admission. For Bsc students, like me, to get admission we had personal interview with a faculty. I had actually given the written test too just in case if that was also needed. The WAT(written aptitude test) was 11th and 12th syllabus and was not that difficult for a moderate student. The personal interview was a little bit intimidating but other than that was quite good. They asked some academic based questions and also some personal questions like what you wanna become and what you wanna persue for your higher Studies and all that .
