Remarks
This university has domain based courses, which help you build your skills in a particular direction rather than just learning about generalized things for all the CS domain. But there are certain times when you want to learn a particular technology stack that is growing in the market but is not a part of your domain, so its is not included in your curriculum or you don't have that much practical exposure to it. You can always study the theoretical part yourself from internet.Admission process is of two types, either via UPESAT or JEE mains. UPESAT is the official exam of the university and JEE mains is another way to apply in it.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the course because I wanted to learn about cloud computing, and get exposure to it. The faculty was experienced and well versed with the concepts, there were some that woked in IT sector in the cloud domain, so they had real life experience with cloud technology
Internships Opportunities
Yes I did get an internship offer with the company that I am currently working with, I started as an intern and was converted to FTE, my stipend was 20000.There are various other companies that offer internship with stipend and without stipend as well, Like Hitachi consulting with 22000 stipend, postman with 60000 stipend, Dell with stipend( not sure about the amount)During my internship I worked on to develop a platform which is used to track performance of the employees based on the tasks that are assigned to them using API communication, Python and automation integration with JIRA to trigger an automated workflow.
Placement Experience
The campus placements are provided af various companies visit to hire students for internship and direct job offer as well. The students have to register themselves for the company via a communication from you placement team keeping in mind that they are eligible for it.Companies like amazon, Hitachi consulting, Synopsys, Postman, Dell, Comvault etc. visit campus every year and hire students. There is 90% placement record from the eligible students, but it does not mean that all the students are placed with high package as said the average package is 5.5L.Students become eligible for 1.5 month intern in 3rd year and can apply for companies for intern with a chances of FTE conversion from 4th year onwards. Students can apply off campus as well if they don't get a placement from university.I am now doing a job in a security firm as an automation engineer and cloud security
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is that there is avg. 10% hike for it for every semester, and you receive an invoice over your email forn the exact amount to be paid. For scholarship there is a list prepared every semester including the students above a certain SGPA threshold.Job opportunities are there as many companies visit the campus during the placement period. But one odd thing is that you cannot enroll for an interview if you have already been selected by a company that visited prior to the current one, even if the package is higher, at least that's how it was during my time in the university.I got a job as an intern in a company with a stipend of 20000, in which later I was converted to a FTE
Campus Life
There isna main social fest that takes place every year called UURJA in which students participate in various activities like modelling, singing, dancing and some student akso volunteer to make photo booths of some of the famous shows like "The office". Its a 2 day festThere is also a technical fest called IGNITE, in which students participate in various games like treasure hunt, gaming sessions with rewardsAlso in both the fests at around 6:00PM IST, they start the DJ in which they either call some famous singers or a DJ to host the showAbout the books, they are available in library and you can borrow them for a period of time to use them to study. There are also cricket, basketball, football and various other sports that students play and hold tournaments for. There are various student chapters run by students focusing on various domains like public speaking skills, technologies etc
Admission
There was no GD as such, because I applied based on the JEE mains but there was a counselling session in which they discussed with us the courses available and also which would be suitable for us.There is also and entrance exam for the University separately called UPESAT, which students can enroll in to get admissionOne thing to note here is that 80% of seats in every course are reserved for the UPESAT students, 10% for Uttrakhand belonging students and 10% for JEE mains students.
