Remarks
According to my rank scored in West Bengal joint entrance examination this is the best college I could get. Before opting for the college I have checked about it on Google and found many review stating that it is an above average college and is among the colleges having best infrastructure in the whole West Bengal. Since travelling to IIT Kharagpur takes less than 2 hours from this college, You can always participate in some of the open events and Seminars host by several IITs.
Course Curriculum Overview
This college offers more than 10 courses in B.tech. Since I was interested in automobiles and only two colleges from West Bengal apart from IIT Kharagpur has its own formula III racing team which builds formula III concept cars every year and participate in formula Bharat comptetion held at Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. I have to go through a written test and a personal to get selected in the team. Teachers here are really very helpful if you are in need. Most of the teachers here have completed there PhDs and those who haven't are pursuing it. Even the lab assistants and supervisors here have a good amount of knowledge. But the thing is if you don't participate actively the professors will also act as a normal teacher who comes and writes on the broad and just leave. The curriculum offered here are really appreciable but they are just the right amount required for you to become an engineer not too light and not too heavy.
Placement Experience
The placement in this college is average which means around 60-65% of the students gets placed but the thing is everyone get placed in IT companies like Infosys and Wipro, Irrespective of their stream. Which means IT companies here act as mass recruiters. And the average package that these companies provide is around 3.2 lpa. Almost nobody gets internship from the college only those whose family/relatives has some contacts with any company officials gets internship. Without contact it is very hard even to do industrial training necessary for the last year students.
Fee Structure And Facilities
College fee here is less as compared to other private colleges in the state. For batches from 2017-2021 per semester fee is around 60k including hostel, but for fooding you have to pay separately. According to the policy of state government of West Bengal, financially weak student who has a domesile of the state has to be given tuition fee waiver (TFW). If you are eligible for TFW then you tuition fee will be only 1k per semester.
Campus Life
HIT has become an autonomous college for the batches starting from 2020. Every year in the month of March we celebrate our Annual festival which is known as 'Prayukti'.There are 2 all in one departmental stores in the campus itself. Every department in the college is equipped with WiFi. Post office and Bank is also available in the campus itself. Food quality is average but are really affordable. 3 ambulance are available 24*7 for any medical facilities, which take us to any one of the three hospital nearby and using our college identity card we can avail free of charge facilities.
