Remarks
I had applied to other IIT colleges like IIT Bombay, Delhi, Madras etc.But after counseling I got civil engineering in IIT Roorkee. I have taken sc quota for admission. The admission process was quite simple.we had to submit some information like class 12 marksheet and category certificate and then online payment.
Course Curriculum Overview
IIT Roorkee is a very old college and famous for civil engineering so I decided to choose it. Faculty: The student ratio is aprox 1:95 in my branch. All faculties had mostly done their PhD and Masters and they are quite good in their teaching methods. From time to time there are quizzes because our mid-term was canceled due to covid. Term exams are not easy it's a little bit tough to score good grades.
Internships Opportunities
Generally, internships start in the 3rd year. A lot of companies provide internships with a decent amount of stipend to the students. Students get a very good opportunity to explore their skills from this. Some companies take students abroad to other developed countries.
Placement Experience
Generally from 7th-semester students become eligible for campus placement. The placement of IIT Roorkee is very good. The placement percentage is around 60 %. While other students go for other competitive exams like UPSC civil services, UPSC IES, etc. A lot of renowned companies like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, etc visited the campus for the placements. Some Students get packages in crores and the average package is also good. I plan to crack UPSC civil services exam after completion of my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are so many scholarships based on your financial situation and other things. Internships After the second year. The placement percentage is very good. Students are placed abroad with a very good package. Exposure to this college is very impressive.
Campus Life
I have not been on campus due to the covid outbreak. But my seniors say that campus life is very good, the best part of life. There are so many things to explore on the campus like music, dancing, sports, and other activities. Our annual fest is cognizance. Students developed many websites to support the covid patients, we have also raised funds for so many patients.
Hostel Facilities
All facilities are available in the hostels. Hostels are neat and clean. All important services are available including very high-speed wifi. The meal quality is quite good in the hostel mess. There is different menu everyday. Mess food is very hygienic and healthy. The registration process for hostels is very simple and fast.
