Remarks

I applied in 8 courses for graduation. Psychology and English were my prime choices. The University of Delhi had a common form for all the college apart from JMC and St. Stephens for which one can apply separately. I got admission to Kalindi College in BA Journalism. Post 1 week, I shifted to Arybhatta College as my percentage was aligned with the cut-off. I am for the general category but I got 1% relaxation under the girl's quota. The admission criteria were the cut-off system which included the best of four in class 12. The minimum age is 17 and marks depends on the cut off given by the college at the moment. I got in at 89%. For BA English, English as a language is compulsory. I had to take a printout of the form and select Aryabhatta college on the portal. With 2 forms generated online 12th class mark sheet, passing certificate, character, migration, provisional certificate visit college. Submit all the documents and a link will be generated for fees paid to be done later from home.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I am passionate about reading and writing thus I choose English. Journalism wasn't meant for me as I am an introvert. There were around 50 students in class and the department had around 10-12 PhD professors. All the professors were Ph.Ds. Few were from JNU and others from IIT. They gave weekly assignments which were reviewed with feedback. One internal test is 20 marks for each subject. They often used to guide and point out errors in the test as well. The odd semester examination was held in November and December and the event was held in May. We have given a winter and summer break post the exams. The exams are not tough but lengthy. They are strict in checking. A 6 sgpa is a good grade.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees were minimum, 11k for the first semester. This followed by a minor hike of 500-1K over the next semesters. A break of fees was generated upon submission for clarity. There was separate end semester examination fees of Rs 500. The entire undergraduate can be completed in 35K. There was no scholarship but the ECA category for admission but that doesn't reduce the fees. The fees structure was the same. Few companies came in for placement but they were primarily for economics.

Campus Life

4

Calypso was the literary fest organized by the English literary society. Streetstruck was a theatre fest organized by Rangmanch. I was part of both and organised both. The annual fest included competitions and star night. Roister was BBE fest unique to our college and 2 canteens as well. There were also annual college freshers for all the departments apart from departmental freshers. The library is essentially filled with books of all genre and comfortable seats and AC. There a reading room separately for students who want to quite learn other than the library. The classrooms had projectors and whiteboards along with steady benches. There was a sports quote for getting admission. Often inter college sports competitions were organized. Every year inter department sports competitions like football, tug of war, volleyball was organized for both boys and girls. Rangmanch was the theatre society. Nibs and Brushes was an art society. There was dance, music, and photography society as well. I was part of the theatre.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
