Most honest review about RCE.

I applied for Roorkee college of engineering, Roorkee after seeing the college in collegedunia.com. I didn't get any quota. The admission criteria were online because of the covid situation. After registration, I received a call from RCE and then paid rs.20000 as a registration fee. Then I got my College registration ID. There was no counseling process because of the short numbers of students applying in the covid situation. I just registered on the college's official website and I got a call that I was asked for the 10th class mark sheet,12th mark sheet, JEE mains scorecard, and aadhar card number for registration.

I chose this course because I like to learn about computers. There is a lack of faculty members, the ratio is like 2 faculty over 50 students. The faculty are qualified enough. Most of the faculties have Ph.D. in respected fields but the teaching method is not good. Every faculty just rush their work. Term exams are conducted after every two months. Passing is not that difficult.

Internships are not directly offered by the college they just share some online website like intershala.com and ask to apply yourselves. College is not serious about internships. The projects are offered by many companies on intershala.com but the college doesn't offer any direct Internship.

Students become eligible after the 5th semester to be able to apply for college placements. 5-6 companies visit every year for college placements but most companies don't offer good jobs. Around 75% of the students get placements from college campuses. My plans are to apply to big companies like Google or Amazon via gate exam or MTech.

The fees of the BTECH course are 1 lakh per year. Scholarships are gained based on 12th marks and JEE main marks. All Students who secure 75% and above marks in any Semester are given an academic excellence award of 5000/- (Irrespective of the number of students), subject to clearance of all subjects of any semester on the first attempt. The list of students who got the scholarship of RCE Rs. 5000/- per student each semester. The job campus offers are good from the view of the average college.

Sports and extracurricular activities are not good. Not even the ground for football is good. There are so many pits on the football and cricket ground. The basketball court is not fixed, the rings are broken. The floor is damaged and there is no free period for extracurricular activities.

Hostel conditions are very bad. Bread is raw at most places. Vegetables are not fresh. Some students even get a stomach aches after eating the meal. The registration process was quite simple we submitted the hostel fee at reception and then we get the slip and show it to the warden for the room keys and register ourselves in the hostel. The cost for a 3 person room Is 60000. The cost for 2 people is 70000 which is a semi-deluxe room(the extra thing is just a cooler). The cost for a single-person room is 80000 with an additional ac. Students have to pay their electricity bills themselves.
