Course Curriculum Overview
I chose mechanical engineering as I had a great intrigue in physics and mathematics. 1:50 was the faculty-student ratio, the faculty was also a major reason to join Thapar as they have PHD's from the top colleges in India. the teaching method was as per Thapar's guidelines as is a deemed university. exams were really difficult and complicated and a lot of attention was required to study
Internships Opportunities
got offered an internship from Anand Motors in the 6th semester. The stipend was 8.5K/month 6 months internship worked on 2 projects 1. process optimization 2. carton improvement Thapar is one of the few colleges in India which offers a 6-month internship and this gives you great exposure to the real world you see after college.
Placement Experience
placements start on year 4th, all around the year all the top companies in India visited and 90% of students got placed. highest package: 25 LPA average package: 5.5 LPA I had planned to join marketing post my graduation as I was fascinated by the flow by which it works.
Fees and Financial Aid
the fees for the course were 1.4 LPA excluding the hostel fees and for the 4-year course, it comes to 8-10 LPA depending on the year the person has started. comparing them with the other top colleges, Thapar is more expensive than most of them. did not receive any scholarship.
Campus Life
Saturnalia is a fest organized by the college every year where students part of the core team was divided to get sponsors, organizing team. books were available on a first come first serve basis and 80% of the students had to get it on their own all the required amenities were available and modern methods of teaching were adopted.
