Remarks
I had applied for many nits and some private institutes like bits and IIIT Hyderabad but I want to do computer engineering which I was not getting in any of these colleges at my marks and I didn't avail any quota. I got admission on the basis of my 12th board's marks and due to the Covid admission process was in online mode so there was no counselling.
Course Curriculum Overview
Due to umpteen opportunities in this field, I choose computer branch. The faculty: student ratio is around 1:17. All the faculty members have a minimum degree of master's level and many of them also have a PhD level degree in their respective fields. After a period of 6 months, our end sem exams are held and their difficulty level is easy to moderate.
Internships Opportunities
Big companies like SanDisk, TT, Paytm, Flipkart provide internships to students for a period of about 6-8 months and students can apply for internships either at the end of the second year or in the mid of the 3rd year. Projects done by the students in these internships help them to enhance their skills and build their resume for future job preferences.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester onwards. Over 200+ companies visit Thapar to pick up students including big companies like Amazon, Microsoft, JP Morgan and many more. The highest package which was offered last year was 43 lakhs and the average goes around 8-9 lakhs per annum. Around 90% of students get placed from campus placements. I plan to do a job after completing my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
Being a private institution Thapar has slightly more fees than other universities and around 25 lakhs is the total fees for a full 4-year course including hostel fees as well. All the scholarships that are approved by the government are given by Thapar and also a special scholarship for the single girl child. It also provides educational loan to students who belong to families below the poverty line.
Campus Life
"Saturnalia" Thapar's annual festival happens in the month of September every year followed by a food festival in the month of October. Thapar has a very big library and has over 40000 + books, 1000+ journals and 3500+ CDs/DVDs for students. Classrooms are well equipped with high tech devices like a projector, smart leds and are equipped with the best sound system and fully AC.
