Govind Ballaph Pant Engineering college Review! Bird Eye View.

I got admission in G.B.Pant engineering college through JEE mains counselling in spot round under OBC category. Our college takes admission through state government college counselling channel in two rounds, post that a spot round is conducted in respective colleges under Uttarakhand Technical University to fill the vacant seats w.r.t. the ranking in JEE mains.

I was little interested in the physics part and renewable part during my 11th and 12th. So, I decided to opt for Electrical Engineering. Plus, the faculty members were highly aligned towards the renewable energy studies and labs were there related to solar energy studies. The faculty: student ratio is okay! 1:20. The faculty are highly qualified and are sent from the university. Midterm exams are conducted every two months and end semester are conducted every six months. As our college is autonomous, so sheets are checked inside the college only but follow the pattern of board exams and end semester question papers are directed from the university.

College gives opportunity to merit students to do internship/ training in various organizations like BSNL, Delhi, Siemens COE, Vishakapatnam etc. The college takes responsibility for accommodation and food for the students.

Being located in a remote location, companies deny coming to our college. But the Training and Placement cell of our college conducts the placements in Dehradun and carry the students from college to Dehradun. The placement is not so good, although the CSE branch gets placed every year with 90% placement. And overall, 40% placement.

Being a government college, the fees structure is so good and feasible for many middle class families. Although, National scholarship is provided to various eligible candidates and a merit scholarship is also provided to the top 10% of each class.

Although, the campus is in a remote location i.e. away from the city the natural beauty leaves no stone unturned. The weather and the place is a gem for many. The wifi connectivity bridges the gap between the city and the college and makes the campus a happening place. Talking about clubs, our college has abhivyakti clubs for social causes, dance club, dramatics club, sports club and e cell for entrepreneurs. Yearly, one cultural and technical fest named GOONJ and one sports fest named JOSH is conducted which is wholly fined by the college only.

The hostel room is okayish, not too good not too bad. But at par with the fees we give. Although, the menu keeps changing of the mess the food quality is average. But, eventually will improve as the government is hiring new chefs and assigning the job to skilled people.
