Remarks

After completing my 12th in may 2020, I have applied for Delhi University Merit Based admissions in June. A few months after when DU started releases its first Cutoff List (which was late due to Covid) I was not able to get any of the colleges due to just 79 percent on my board. I researched a lot and find out a Course with pretty low cutoffs due to the demand of studying the Hindi language in class 12th, that very course is BA Hons Hindi Journalism. There are a total of 3 Coed and 1 girls college providing this course. I managed to get into Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College in the 5th Cutoff. The only special criteria for BA Hons Hindi Journalism is studying the Hindi language in 12th. There is no age bar for this or any of the courses in DU. After applying for this course in my college as I was very late I just received a call from the faculty and joined the official WhatsApp groups of the college to receive further class links and other details.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

As I was very interested in both the Hindi language and in the field of journalism, I chose this very course of Hindi journalism. This one is the Hons course. So we have just two Core papers in the first year, both the teachers are very good and supportive even the other teachers of our department and the deen itself is very supportive. This friendly behaviour of the faculty and other staff is the best thing in this college. In our batch we are just 25 students with the girl is to boy ratio of almost 1:1. The quality of education is very good and since it's The DU the exams are conducted in a very timely. Since today I have given my 1st Sem obe exam online, that was pretty easy.

Fees and Financial Aid

Our annual fee is around 40k, which is pretty high as compared to other courses but the reason behind this is it's a self funded course in our college. Since it's self funded course the college doesn't provide any scholarship to the respective students. The fee hike policy is the same as every UGC governed University or College.

Campus Life

3.5

Our College Campus is very small, it is considered as one of the smallest campuses in Delhi university. It's also an off campus DU college which means life here is not as happening as North or South Campus but we have our annual fest in February or March named "Surlok". We too have one of the best NCC 'Vijayant NCC' of the DU with our most famous 'magus' dance society. We also have a very good library with a regular supply of books, great classrooms around 50% of which are digitally equipped with projectors, mics and speakers. We have 2 auditoriums one seminar hall but no ground on the campus itself but have a very good sports culture in the college, we use a nearby stadium for our sports purposes.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
