Remarks

College life is fantastic and I made the best of friends from NITC. Campus life was fun and lovely. The infrastructure of the college is better than any engineering college in the state and better than few old IITs as well. Of course there are some negatives but I guess the positive offset those clearly well.

Entrance Preview

Wrote AIEEE in 2005, got an All India Rank of 8200s, among the NITs NITC had a really good Civil Engg Dept.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is regularly updated and course gets all the necessary accreditation in time. It equips students to be competent in the changing world and requirement of industry. It also focuses on deep learning and promotes research. The curriculum is well defined and the student receive the same for his own analysis before the beginning of the semester.

Internships Opportunities

A few companies come to offer internship and they provide stipend ranging from 10,000 per month to 30,000 per month. Internships are generally for the understanding of students. Some companies offer intership conversion to job as well.

Placement Experience

4.5

Core placements are received for students whose understanding is good in the subject and can express during interview. Some of the PSUs like NTPC, ONGC, POWERGRID, etc come for placements and other conglomerates like L&T, etc recruit from the college.

College Events

4.5

The college has a batch of 1000 so there are around 5000 students in the campus. this itself gives a lot of colour to the two main inter college fests, Tatva-The technical Fest and Ragam ,The cultural fest. The fests see participation from across south India and has some of the best pro shows like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Shaan, Etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is not dirt cheap but not so high. Fee is around 40,000 per semester for General Category for 2014 admissions onwards. Details of fees may be seen at http://nitc.ac.in/app/webroot/img/upload/contentfile_3410.pdf It is easily affordable for a middle class family and for those of whom it is above their limits, college has nationalised banks nearby from where educational loans can be processed

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships of Govt is executed through the college for SC/ST students and economically weaker section students. College has scholarships for semester toppers.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is wonderful. It is a picturesque campus with lot of greenery and fresh air. The gender ratio is around 4:1 for boys to girls. Opportunities for extra curricular activities are provided by clubs are sports teams. Clubs like Literary and Debating Club, Industrial and Planning Forum, etc has good programmes and conduct events. Basketball, Cricket, Football, etc. go for Inter NIT competitions and has many wins.

Hostel Facilities

5

There are several hostels A to G+PG+Mega Hostel and almost every hostel has got a mess. Food of various cuisine non-veg, veg, Kerala style, north Indian Style, etc. is available. Food quality in the hostel is generally good and hygenic. Even if you are staying at F Hostel, you can join the mess of C hostel and have food from there and this can be changed every semester(sometimes more). It is not compulsory to join the mess of the hostel you are staying.

Alumni/Alumna

While studying , senior students are of immense help with guidance on topics to study as well as extra curricular activities. After they become alumni, they help through recommendations and placements

Exam Structure

There are around 6 subjects in a semester and each subject has got 2 mid semester exams of 20 marks each and one end semester exam of 50 marks. Internals are 10 marks. Added to 100. Labs are once a week and exams check the know how of the student in the practical application of the subject learnt.

Admission

Central Counselling Procedure(Earlier AIEEE). Once the ranks in the Common Entrance Test is announced, the body conducting the tests will announce the dates for counselling and and central counselling is done. Earlier, it was conducted by CBSE for AIEEE. Now IITs have taken over and admission is through JEE. It is straightforward and confusion free.

Faculty

5

All faculty have Ph.D from IITs and most of them hold post doctoral fellowship from abroad. Teaching standards are high and faculty takes individual interest in studies of all students. The evaluation criteria is defined at par with IITs with continuous evaluation focussing on understanding.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance. The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies. The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.
