Remarks
I gave the jee mains exam and got the 99.3 percentile. I belong to the ST quota so my ST rank was 658. I got admission through Jossa counseling. I put the name of almost all good nits in Jossa college selection and got a seat in Nit Silchar in Computer science and Engineering in ST quota. I did not apply for any other college. I had to submit a fess and upload the following document (Caste certificate in Josaa Format, Medical certificate in Jossa format, Class 12 mark sheet, Class 10 mark sheet). After some time I got an email that my documents have been verified and my seat was secured. After some time a portal was given by our college where we have to again upload the required documents and after the verification, I received my scholar id. Now my admission process was complete.
Course Curriculum Overview
I took admission in B.Tech in CSE. The CSE batch was divided into 2 sections. My section consisted of 86 students. For all the theory part of all the subjects we had 1 professor but for the practical part, our section was divided into 2 sections so one teacher for 43 students. All the professors hold Ph.D. degrees. We also had TA for every subject. Almost all the TA are either M.Tech students or M.Tech graduates. Our class was held on google meet. Professors had pdf notes of their subject. They will share their screen and teach us with either their notes or they will use paint as a blackboard. After the class, Professors will share the notes but some teachers only shared their notes later. Most of the professors were friendly except some. The exams were of medium difficulty. If you read notes properly you can easily score good marks. For every semester we had 2 minor tests, 1 mid-sem exam, 1 end sem exam. Our practical marks are dependent on viva, assignments, and attendance.
Internships Opportunities
Our college has an internship program that offers us internships during summer vacation. Students start applying for internships in 2nd year. Plenty of internships is offered by startup throughout the year but big companies only visit our campus after august. Here you find plenty of internship opportunities.
Placement Experience
The average placement for the CSE branch is very good and our average package is increasing every year. Students start giving interviews after 3rd year. Our college is visited by many reputed companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs. This year our college average placement was 13 LPA and the highest package was 43 LPA. Even a 48LPA job was offered but no one was able to crack the interview. Almost everyone in the CSE branch gets a job. But if you are not from the CSE department then the placement here is average.
Fees and Financial Aid
I belong to the ST community so I did not have to pay tuition fees. For the 1st semester, I had to pay 21000 total. This is without the hostel fees because our classes were being held online so I was attending class from home. For the 2nd semester, I had to pay 3,470. Again we did not have to pay hostel fees.
Campus Life
My college has 2 big annual fests (Incandescence in February and Technosis in October). A lot of events happen at these festivals. Our college has a lot of social groups and all the created and handled by the students. There is a club for almost everything here like dancing, singing, fighting(karate), coding, poem writing, drawing, photography, and a lot more. Except during the exams week, Events are held almost every single week. Our college has Asia's largest digital library although we barely use books for the academic, teacher notes are enough for exams. Due to the covid pandemic, no sports are being held although our college has places for many sports.
