Remarks

I wanted to get into DU. So according to the marks that I obtained, among the good colleges I got through Maharaja Agrasen, then Maitreyi college, and finally Kamala Nehru. Maharaja Agrasen was in Mayur vihar, very close to my home but I wanted a complete "DU experience" which included travelling too. Other than that I was also looking for better opportunities and waiting for the upcoming cut off lists also. With Maitreyi this was a great college but with studies, I also wanted to be in the Indian dance society. While getting through the admission process I realized there wasn't one. To get through a good college in DU you have to keep getting admission in colleges that you're getting but you need to wait for the last cut off list of other colleges. I finally got through Kamala Nehru in their 5th cut off list with 91.75%. There was no counselling. The admission process was online.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose Political science for my graduation because I wanted a hardcore subject that will give me further options, opens up more domains for me. For our course, there are two sections of around 100 students approx and there were a total of around 15 faculty members. Most professors have done their PhD and have proficiency in what they are doing. It was fairly easy for the students to get average marks if they study well and all the professors were super helpful too.

Placement Experience

2.5

In your 3rd year of college, you're eligible for placements. I do not have much knowledge about the placements as in political science not many people go for placements. My plans, for now, is to work and allow myself to explore as much as possible and after a year or so do my further studies in PR.

Fees and Financial Aid

My total fee for the whole year was around 9000/- I had no scholarships. It was completely marks-based. There is a placement cell in Kamala Nehru but I didn't fill in for it as my first and the only option at that point was to further go for my masters.

Campus Life

4

Yes. DU has annual fests from January mid to March. It's a full rollercoaster of competitions especially for the people who are part of society. Some famous performers are also invited to the fests. The library is huge and is located in a completely different building. It's spacious and you can sit and study in peace. There are basic amenities when it comes to any DU college. Kamala Nehru really broadened my mind and ideologies apart from anything else.

Other Applied Colleges

Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication | Journalism and mass communication

I wasn’t completely sure about journalism and opted for a gap year instead to explore a little more.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

The course offers many things for students interms of their further academic pursuits or any placement they are looking for. Talking about the areas of improvement and teaching methods there are none. The exams of the respective subject are to happen. They take test 1 , test 2 and there is final exams.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
