Remarks

Many cut-off lists were taken out. In the first list, I secured admission to the B.com program. They have 3 days from when the list is taken out to submit your documents. My percentage was 95.5. As my preference was B.A. (Hons.) Economics so I waited for more lists to come out. Finally, in the third list, I qualified for Eco Hons. the course at KNC. I was of general category. The only thing that matters is your class 12th best of four which should include English. Maths is a prerequisite for admission in Eco and Bcom Hons. No minimum marks in Maths are required though like St. Stephens. They basically require you to fill in 2-3 forms and buy their prospectus. There are many teachers and volunteer students to help you out.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is pretty standardized across DU. Although the syllabus keeps changing and the meetings to decide that are pretty late readings are available at both south and north campus. You can take numbers from your Seniors. I chose Eco( Hons.) due to my interest in analytical work and the practicality of the subject. Teachers are experienced and mostly permanent teachers are Ph.D. They have to know the subject but it's upon them if they are in the mood. The exam schedule was also uniform across DU. Exams were tougher during the second year but if you do go through the readings carefully it'll be pretty easy. 10 years is available near the Diggin bookshop.

Placement Experience

2

You become eligible to sit for placements in your 5th Semester usually. Only a handful of companies come and some companies even ask for money like 100rs to sit for placements. I don't think the highest package was more than 3.5 LPA. Placements are few and I'd say there's only a 30% chance of getting placed by the college. You'll have a better chance of securing a job on your own. Research and risk were two categories that are most likely to get you a job. I am working in the risk department in an MNC and found the job on my own.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees were pretty nominal and only 8500 for a year for the General category. It was even lesser for reserved categories. Scholarships were pretty scarce but depended more on your financial condition and you can discuss it with the principal. Transportation fees to the college are higher but you can enjoy joints as per your ability to shell put money. The canteen was cheap in price but good on quality of food. Loved the momos there. All in all budget-friendly college for sure.

Campus Life

3.5

There is a centralized annual fest called Ullas is amazingly done. Our last year Darshan Raval came and it was amazing. The theatre festival Concotion is usually the best in DU and the theatre society organizes it well. It's not one to miss. Usually the Economics fest Ecophoria is also amazing as stalls are up to date and most colleges visit. The library here is quite extensive and has the best wifi connection. You can easily read or finish your assignments here. Multiple sports are available here with a gym facility but it is usually sub-par and the college mostly doesn't win anything. Classes just have projectors and a normal blackboard. No ACs. There are multiple societies with categories like Entrepreneurship cell, drama society, English singing society (Zephyr), Hindi Singing society ( Sangeetika), Dance Society, Environment Society, Departmental Societies, Placement cell, etc.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
