Remarks

JEE mains acts as qualification for writing JEE Advanced. The minimum score cut off dynamic. For open category ranks up to 20k given. Counselling happened through JOSA (joint counselling for NITs and IITs). Preferences set and allotment done.

Course Curriculum Overview

Rank fuelled selection of course. Low faculty to student ratio as large input of students. Super educated professors. Good researchers but not good teachers. Timely exams and super difficult to pass. Ablative relative grading. An average college's 9 is a 7 here.

Internships Opportunities

A lot of internship opportunities. A little biased towards Software Development Jobs. The average stipend is around 50k per month. Citi, Samsung, Microsoft and all other reputed companies participate. Held in 5th and 6th Semester.

Placement Experience

Campus placements start after finishing of 7th Semester from Dec1. Almost 100% placements. All giants like Samsung, Apple, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Oracle, Adobe, Amex. Startups like OYO, Ola, Zomato. Highest package - India -50LPA. Overseas 1.5cr pa.

Fees and Financial Aid

Till 2015, super affordable course. MHRD subsidised for all to an extent. SC, ST exempt from fees. Other categories had an option to avail MCM (Merit cum means scholarship) that reimbursed their admission fees and gave 4000 a semester as pocket money.

Campus Life

Lots of fest across the year and loads of inter hostel activities. Alcheringa - Cultural fest - Held in January end. Techniche - The annual techno-management fest - Held in September. Udgam- The entrepreneurship fest - Held in January start. Lakshminath Bezbaruah library - Enormous. Spardha, Manthan, Kriti - inter hostel sports cultural and technical competitions.

Hostel Facilities

Minimal facilities. Single non sharing room. Shared Bathrooms. Mess system. Decent food quality maintained. The student decided menu. Live counter. No AC/cooler. Just a bed (no mattress), chair and table. Built in cupboard. Online registration /allotment of the hostel.

Hostel Fee: INR 800 per year

Placement Experience:

Placements at IIT Guwahati are excellent especially in the tech field ,with high placement rates and strong average packages generally Rs 30 lakh per annum. Top companies regularly visit the campus. After completing the course if i do not get placed on campus which is hardly possible i'll look for other off campus placements.

A calm and disciplined campus life at JIST

Course Curriculum Overview:

Most of the professors are good here.The college covers the core subjects required for strong foundation in engineering. However the theoretical coverage is good the scope for practical exposure is still required.

Placement Experience:

The placement is quite good in my college. In 7 th semester the placements start and the package goes from 16lpa to 2 cr . About 75 percent student who applied got placed . I want to work in a software firm.

The placement of Assam engineering College is average as compared to the other colleges like iit and not. Aec gives placement around 20-24 lakhs and many company parts in the placement cell and many of the students get their dream job

Placement Experience:

Students normally appear for placements in fourth year with two placement seasons namely from december to january and february to march. Companies include quant companies and tech giants like JPMC, Reliance Industries, WellsFargo,Piramal, Standard Chartered,Texas Instrumentation, walmart, Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte,Oracle, HCL, Barclays, Tata steel, uber, legato, Mastercard, Nutanix, BPCL, BEL,PWC, Socgen, etc. Almost 80% students get placed every year with the average package ?1,60,000. The highest package was 1.68 crore per annum from the branch of Computer Science.

ASSAM UNIVERSITY SILCHAR , THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY

Placement Experience:

only fourth year students are eligible for campus placements . the detalis of the visiting compaies are not thte sure but at least 10 stuents are placed each year from every single batch. the higest so far was 20 lpa and it was in amazon , the student who cracked that placement applied it off campus . on campus placement was not more than 10 lpa so far . the percentage of students getting placemnets are less than 50% not because of quality of placement but majority stuents opt for higher studies or goverment jobs rather than direct placement . my paln is to also pursue higher education

5 or 6 semester onwards students are eligible for internships in off campus . They can opt for PPO. There are severe companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Flipkart, and some top MNCs . overall campus is perfect to spend 4 years

Charmingly Challenging Champion

Placement Experience:

After the 6th sem placement season starts. The intern season takes place at the end of the 4th sem. The placement of the college is extremely good. The average package of the college is around 21 lakhs. That of CSE is 41 lakhs. Mncs is 35 lakhs etc. Projected package of my branch DSAI is 40 lakhs.

I chose IIT Guwahati because of a strong IIT brand , excellent placements and comparetively lower fees. Compare to other IIT's it provied good campus expreience and less academic pressure. Compare to other NIT's , private colleges ,IIT Guwahati stands out in every fields. If one coudn't make it too higher IIT's it's because of not elegible after the JEE advanced rank as competition is very intense. Detailed and Unbiased Review

I have applied for DTU & IIITD where I got Software Engineering Branch through the JEE Mains Scores. But since I was sure to join old IIT. I was not sure much about branches so, I just filled all the core and circuital branches of all Old IITs. I wasn't able get other top IITs as my rank in JEE Advanced was not that level.
