Remarks

The admission process was done through a Computer Based Test JNUEE-2020 (Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Exam) conducted by NTA. MCQ based test consisted of 100 questions without any negative marking. For the UG program, there is NO age limit while one has to clear the cutoff which depends upon the number of students appearing in the test. Applicants are asked to provide language preferences (min. 1 language & max. 3 languages). After clearing the cutoff and "seat-blocking " by paying the semester fee of 264, selected applicants are called for further document verification and admission formalities. Counselling and Docs verification is completed on the same day. The admission process is smooth and adequate time with extensions are provided if required to procure necessary documents.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I was selected for the BA German program. JNU's language program is highly appreciated and being a public university it offers a feasible fee structure of 264/semester which makes it affordable for students of every section and class to pursue foreign language. The BA+MA integrated Program is of 5 years, while one has to maintain a minimum CGPA to get promoted from BA to MA. There is no need to ask about the faculty members. JNU is one of the premier institutes that has ample highly qualified Professors. While doing the Bachelors, they provide exposure and share their experiences with students. Centres are flexible and cooperative. In BA, Student capacity varies from Language to Language. ( min. 17 & max 60). There is a dedicated language and library for Language Students. Within the 6 month semester, 3 sessional exams, 1 mid semester and a final semester exam are conducted.

Placement Experience

4.5

There is a dedicated placement cell for students. After graduation, students start receiving calls for campus placements. Amazon, TCS, Accenture are the top recruiters. The majority of students wish to continue to their master program or search for a foreign university scholarship. While those who're in dire need of job, doesn't find it hard to get one.

Fees and Financial Aid

The University's fee structure is affordable even to the marginalised students of the society. You can continue your Bachelor by paying the sum of 264/semester. The hostel establishment fee is around 1600-1800 per semester. (Including the room rent of 10/month). Mess bill changes from hostels to hostels. It varies from 2200 - 2500 / month. But not to worry, there is a Merit Cum Mean (MCM) scholarship offered to every student whose annual family income is below 2.5 lacs. Moreover, respective language program offers scholarships, financial assistance and foreign exchange program to deserving students.

Campus Life

4

Every centre has fresher parties, hostel nights and a language fest. (i.e.,Hanguel Day - Korea). The Central library is widely known for the availability of books, journals, international magazines and newspapers. It also offers a cyber library fully equipped with air conditioning. The Classrooms are wide and spacious. The Campus and Hostels are equipped with Free Wifi. Every Hostel has indoor games stuffs available(TT, Carrom, Cricket) and Badminton Court. There is a dedicated stadium for sports activities and an Indoor Court for Badminton and Taekwondo (Teflas Students Activity Center). JNU -Music, Wildlife, Mountaineering etc. clubs are available.

Hostel Facilities

4

A double bedroom with basic needs is available. A wardrobe, 2 Tables, 2 Beds are provided. 3-Time meal is served with Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian food items available. The hostel is allotted to almost every student, but the whole process takes the time of a month or two. Hostel infrastructure might not be very attractive but the ambience and environment are what we thrive for.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
