Entrance Preview

I was in Delhi for the science subject. But I landed up with English Honours finally. I was an introvert and learnt that those who take English Honours gain self confidence and smartness. The course also offers a chance for creative writing, self expression and gran professional courses like journalism and mass communication. I instantly joined this course to upgrade and explore myself at a personal level.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The college had endowed the course with strong and comprehensive structure and content. As in they included all what they could considering what facilities they had in the year 2003. They accomplished the maximum through their course alignment. The three year graduate program included the entire history of English , social background, Shakespearen era (Elizabethan drama), Poetry- British poetry, Indian poetry (Romantic to Modern), RK Narayan.

Internships Opportunities

No, I don't think they were into internship at that point of time (2003-2006). They hardly offered stipends or programs into training and learning. It was after college that we moved on to such professional things.

Placement Experience

0.5

Not sure, but at that time I don't think the college participated in any placement drive for graduation students. It was only in colleges with higher studies that the companies used to associate for recruiting. I went on to study further with a mass communication institute named Pioneer Media School. We were not being approached for professional placements etc.

College Events

4.5

As far as I remember, college had held a lot of events through my academic years. There was a lot that one can move on to after their classes. In fact our session started with SPIC MACAY related to Arts and Culture society. For art and culture among youth, there were Music and Dance and Dramatic Society too. There were theatre workshops, debating society and Hindi Sahitya sabha for the students participation.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees was quite feasible. We could easily afford the yearly fee structure that the college fixed. It was somewhere around 3000 per year on an average. It used to come to 4000 including other expenses that the college asked for. Library, management, stationary, all were included for the trips.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I did not go for education loan. It was not required for my family at that moment. We were okay paying from our own pocket.

Alumni/Alumna

They were not only helpful but like our elder brothers and sisters. Rather they were more of mid-night pals we can say. Always ready to help us out in terms of social help, notes, understanding the subject, teachers and the environment etc. They were quite cooperative when they ragged us in our first year.

Exam Structure

Exam curriculum was pretty cool and we had ample time in hand between for the preparations. The papers were scheduled in such a way that students can revise their subjects satisfactorily. It never felt hectic at Satyawati college to write down the papers. The environment was also silent and maintained. Privacy was also kept in mind during the exams.

Admission

I successfully cleared my 12th examinations with 60% marks which helped me have admission in the college. First thing was to procure the form straight away from the college. A senior helped me a lot to guide me about the rules. The college asked for 12th and 10th marksheets and other certificates like migration, clearance, leave and birth certificates from my school which I offered them all.

Faculty

3.5

The best part about the faculty was that they were as cool and friendly as the students which helped a great deal in creating a teacher-student bond. They never made us feel that they were teachers to us. They helped us as and when required. I can proudly boast of them as the the best guidance and faculty in terms of teaching, innovation, offering notes and summaries and solving queries.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
