Remarks
I have applied to colleges in Bangalore but didn't clear the eligibility criteria for the same. No, I don't avail any quota. The minimum criteria in admission to FYBCOM are the merit list of the college. One needs to get their name on the merit list to get in. You just have to apply through the college website, once the application stuff is successfully completed you are required to wait until they put up their merit lists & then if you are selected, then you are supposed to pay the fees through the dashboard.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Bcom Honours in Banking and finance as I was keen on learning the financial concepts. Besides, the course demand in the market. Faculty members are evenly distributed as per the requirements & you will find a minimum of chaos in the functioning of departments. All the faculty members i.e; professors master their subjects & are NET qualified for the same. The teaching methodology is by far excellent. A ratio of 70:30 is followed throughout the year where, 70 marks of the internals are scheduled via tests, viva', group presentation, and 30 marks of written externals for the final semester exams. The level is easy to moderate.
Internships Opportunities
There are several internship opportunities for students right after they join in. For FYs and SYs College promotes several companies like online learning platforms, NGOs, Deloitte, Different positions in a company (according to one's skills), internships(with stipend) & certification. Students willing to do any, can grab the opportunity & gain hands-on experience in their preferable fields. During your internship, you are given tasks (weekly) or sometimes daily where you constantly work towards building new skills & talents. Duration and tenure are pretty flexible throughout. You are also given projects based on your position & skills to upfront the company's growth & development.
Placement Experience
Undoubtedly, the placement cells of symbi are very active throughout. It is renowned to have great placements for its students every year. MNC's like Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Federal Bank, Teach for India, Gandhi Fellowship, CRISIL (internship) were the top companies that offered a package of highest 4 to 5 lakhs and a minimum of 2-3 lakhs, besides many other companies also visited the campus for placement. Around 60% of students get placed every year. However, due to pandemics, there has been a downfall in the numbers. I aspire to do MBA in the field of Human Resources.
Fees and Financial Aid
Graduation is really economical here as compared to other private colleges. The fees for regular Bcom per year is around 28k and that for Honours is around 50000 for general category, again it varies as per different quotas and categories. Various scholarships are provided to bright students and to those with weaker financial backgrounds. The college offers several internships, workshops, and jobs through its placement cell that works effectively throughout. FYs and SYs take up several internships as Campus Ambassadors, Sales & HR interns from several companies. For the final year students, MNC's like Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Federal Bank, Northern Trust, L&T, Teach for India, Gandhi Fellowship, CRISIL (internship) where the top companies that offered a package of around 3 to 4 lakhs, besides many other companies, also visited the campus for placement.
Campus Life
The motto of Symbiosis is 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' which means The World Is One Family. The crowd here is from all over the world. You'll always find something happening around you be it fests like symagine, events, shows, or Ted Talks. Symbi can never disappoint you & indeed has the best campus Life to offer. SCAC has all the necessary infrastructure, facilities & equipment to improve student outcomes. Classrooms, laboratories, libraries, smart boards, wifi, sports centers, canteen, gym, and hostels are all used and well maintained. The location of the college itself & student life is just amazing. There are various social groups such as CIE, SEC, SCAC MUN, SIFA that are run for students & by students of college itself that endeavour to guide and encourage students to showcase their skills.
