Review on Shyama Parsad college, DU

Currently, I'm studying BA (Hons) in philosophy at Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for women, which is a constituent of Delhi University. U can pursue any course in Humanities whether it's Hons. or programming, B.Sc and B.Com courses are also provided here. The admission is done on a merit basis. After clearing the cut off for a particular program, one can apply for the admission and within 2 days after u apply, Ur documents go under verification, after the verification of your documents such as ur mark sheet of 12th standard and the required percentage in top 4 subjects, u have to submit the fee within 24 hrs. After the submission of the annual fee, your seat will be confirmed by the University. All the updates regarding ur admission will be provided through mail Or phone calls, so just be attention during the whole process of ur admission.

I chose philosophy hons because I think this subject suits my personality as I'm a kind of intellectual, ethical and imaginative person and I want to explore myself in this way. This subject works on ur overall personality. It enhances ur mental development, thinking ability and helps u in taking the right decision in ur life. I found the faculty of SPM college is very cooperative and experienced. Most of them are PhD holders. They are very polite to their students. The way they teach is excellent. Choosing SPM college for the undergraduate courses is definitely a great decision. The environment of college is very disciplined and it provides exposure in sports and other curriculum activities. The Auditorium in college has around 1000 sitting capacity and the canteen is also very good and hygienic. Exams were held on time and if one will study with focus, one could score good marks.

As I'm a first yr student so I can't explain it well. U have to understand whatever the teacher teaches u and explore ur interests as much as u can. Participate in extra curriculum activities. Be active and attentive and study well, score well, just be I'm disciplined. I think that would be enough.

Students will be eligible for campus placement in final year. 70-80% students get scholarship while other pursue higher studies or prepare for competitive or any other entrance exam. My plan is to pursue MA in philosophy but one can choose this subject as his / her optional subject in UPSC CSE and can pursue law or could become a lecturer.

Annual fees are between 8000-10000 for all the course provided by the college as it comes under Delhi University, So the fee structure is affordable for all the sections of the society and there are special criteria for minority section, so they will be more benefited in terms of clearing cut offs and paying fees. On the basis of ur marks, the college provides u with the placement. If u score well in all the semester, so u can get a great job in terms of salary.

There is an availability of 7000 books in the library, 25-30 computers and tablets for students. U have to make a library card so u can easily borrow any book from the library. There are many dance and music clubs, the college provides u with the opportunities to participate in the college fests and in other colleges too.
