Companies visiting for Internships

During my JoSAA counseling, I had applied for various IITs and many NITs with circuital branches. But, In the end I got IIT Guwahati BSBE through it as I always wanted to be in one of the Old IITs so, I chose IITG over everything else. The Closing rank for General category was around 8200 and there isn't any age criteria as such in JEE. JoSAA counselling was conducted online and we were supposed to upload our documents online.

I chose this course just because my interest lied in Biology and I was very much keen to explore this field and thus I applied for it. I was also very much fascinated by the Old IITs and thus, I went for it. We have 8 faculties for 5 courses among 65 students so, The faculty: student ratio is around 1:8 which is quite good. The faculties are highly qualified and they are prominent researchers of the country and thus, they are very much devoted. The exams were based on the courses taught and they are doable if you properly go through the course content. However, It is quite hectic to do so.

So, there were many others too.

The first phase of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati 2019-20 placements was held from December 1 to December 15, 2019. Within two days of placements, more than 300 offers were received from big companies including Goldman Sachs, JPMC, Google, IBM and Oracle among others. The institute also received a total of 20 international offers from Uber, Microsoft, Accenture Japan, BNY Melon USA and SOU Japan. According to the head of the Career Development Centre at IIT Guwahati, the number of international offers surpassed double of the previous year’s total in the second day of placements itself. The jobs were being offered in diverse profiles such as IT/Software, Analyst, Finance, Management, Design, etc. During this phase, 250 companies had registered, compared to about 200 companies in the whole of last year (2018-19). The average CTC offered was around 17LPA.

The fee break-up is as follows (per semester):- 100000/- Tuition fee per semester + 49600/- (all other charges inclusive of the Hostel and Messing fees) This is further subdivided for 3 classes :- Normal :- 149600/- per semester OEB (Income 1Lac-5lac) :- 2/3rd of tuition fee waived MEB (under 1 lac) :- Full tuition fee waived. However, there are multiple scholarships which you get through the college itself. One of them is McM scholarship which offers full tuition fee waiver and monthly pocket expenses of ?1000/-

Campus Life at any old IIT is great. But, if it us IIT Guwahati, you are blessed to have the MOST BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS in our country. IIT Guwahati is among the most beautiful IIT campuses of India. Spread over an area of 700 acres, it is not just the top engineering colleges of India but also is the most beautiful college campuses in India. It is located on the northern banks of River Brahmaputra and surrounded with luxuriant hills. IIT Guwahati has 3 fests :- 1) ALCHERINGA (Cultural fest) :- 2nd largest fest in our country and is the largest cultural fest of North East. And It is conducted in the month of March usually. 2) TECHNICHE (Technomanagement Fest) :- The largest Techfest of North East and is conducted in the Month of August. 3) SPIRIT (Sports fest) :- Conducted in the month of September-October and is largest sports fest of North East.

Whenever you get admitted to IIT and go for your registration in the college campus, you're alloted a Hostel that costs you around 18000/- a month which is quite affordable and offers a great campus life.
