My Experience of IIM Sambalpur

It was really a tough time for me to have patience as it said good things takes time so it is. I got offer from IIM BG, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Jammu, SIMS & IIM Sbp. I chose IIM Sbp as comparatively they don't have much difference. You can go through past placement report of the college or talk to the seniors of the college to have an overview or to finalize your decision. I got offer as under OBC category that too after long waiting list biting my nails off during the entire time. Age limit should not exceed 35 years of the candidate. I have applied for PGDM course 2021-2023. The minimum marks as we call depends upon the highest cutoff of that year and number of seats in the college intake so no one can predict it before hand. There will be on counselling, due to covid they removed GD an WAT round, just PI was there. But again there is no guarantee that this will continue further. Hold your horses, wait for the good to happen.

You will always find diversity in the batch in terms of work experience, background, gender, etc. If we talk about gender ratio it is 58:42 of last year and even better this year. According to the placement report of 2021 highest annual CTC offered was 26.4 LPA and secured 21 LPA whereas the average was 11.21 LPA and the top 25% received 14.91 LPA. Faculty were from premier b-schools of India, But now we have our own faculty who are very helpful. All the faculty are the brightest mind of our country and even some of them are alumni of IIMs as well. We have flip classroom pedagogy. We have a total of 6 terms over 2 years. Exams are totally concept and understanding based so if you have an understanding of the concept you can ace it.

There will be several live projects paid & unpaid with different time duration of 15 days, 1 month, 2 months, and 4-6 months. Be conscious of what you chose. Summer Internship starts from October month you have to build up ur resume for that. You can look for an off-campus internship as well.

According to last year's placement record highest annual CTC was offered at 26.4 LPA and secured 21 LPA with the top 25% CTC at INR 14.91 LPA. IIM Sambalpur witnessed close to 140 companies visiting the campus this season with prominent recruiters. SIP starts from the end of the 1st term itself. Some companies required criteria of minimum percentage but not all.

You can always avail of the loan. Also, you can apply for a loan at the campus branch in Burla. If your income level is low government provides scholarships as well but you have to find it your own, There are lots of scholarships for ST/SC candidates. Also, merit-based scholarships are provided by the college. Fees of all the baby IIM have the difference of 2-3 lacs, But ROI matters. I can't comment on my job as currently I m in my first year and SIP is yet to happen.

There are a number of fests and events one can always enjoy as diversity runs here so we celebrate every cultural festival. The annual fest of IIM Sbp is ETHOS conducts a number of events every year mostly in the month of Jan-Feb. You can find books and journals in the library offline or online as well your account will be provided to you. Our new campus is at construction, the old one is at the Sambalpur university and we are yet to call out at campus due to covid. There are a total of 27 numbers including clubs and committees. And a number of sports & extracurricular activities are conducted there.

There is 2 occupancy in each room. The washing machine and water filter are there on every floor in the alternative end. Bathrooms are there at the alternative end of the floors. The menu will be changed every month which is decided by IMC with the coordination of all the students. Hostel rooms will be allotted to you once you reached the campus. The mess and hostel fees are included in the fees itself.
