Honest Review for UPES

I have applied for colleges like VIT, UPES, and have also been given the Mains exam. I have scored and cleared the UPES entrance exam with a good rank which helped me to choose the branch of my own choice like I had selected the Computer Science branch with specialization in Cloud Computing and Virtualization Technology. The admission criteria are simple first of all you have to give the entrance exam and score the marks. Also, if someone scored good marks in JEE or scored a good percentage in 12th then he/she might get eligible for a scholarship. The admission process was great because at the time of orientation we have been provided with the boots of different branches in which the senior faculties are helping to understand the branch completely and why should we choose them.

I have chosen this course because I like to work with software and the specialization I chose is due to the demand in the industry. The faculty-student ratio is 1:8. All the faculties are either postgraduates or have done PhD, so they are skilled in their subjects. The teaching method depends on teacher to teacher but they provide good ppts and the method is also good because they believe in the hands-on practicals. For every semester the exams are conducted two times like first there is mid-term which helps to prepare for the final exam for the semester and then there is the final exam which decides the result. The exams are of medium difficulty but if someone goes to the course thoroughly then he/she can pass the exam easily.

The internship opportunities are provided in the 6 the semester of the college so that the students can work in the summer break and learn and explore how to work in a company. The projects provided by the companies are great and each company has its own tech stack by which a student can choose between them. The companies that came for Internships are TTN, AIS, IBM, many startups, etc.

The students become eligible in the final year of college and the companies start to visit the campus. The companies that came on the campus are TCS, Cognizant, TTN, VMWare, Postman, etc. The highest package on the campus offered was 20 lakh and the lowest was 2.5 lakh. 99% of the student gets placed and some avail multiple offers. I have secured a job after getting the degree.

The fees structure for my course increases by 10% every year which is a bit costly. You can acquire a scholarship by getting the top rank in the entrance exam, getting a good percentage in 12th boards or you have a good JEE score. UPES provides financial assistance by helping students with education loans. UPES has a great record of placements, almost every student gets placements and sometimes one student can have multiple job offers but during the pandemic, the quality of the companies that came this year is not good.

If you ask me about the campus life in UPES, I can have fewer words to say, it's so amazing than you can think. The feeling of being in the clouds and mountains living close to nature makes me energetic and happy at the same time. UPES conducts two annual fests: UURJA(cultural fest) around Diwali and IGNITE(the technical fest) around February. UPES has a wide range of variety of books in the library and you can pick any book you want and if you want to find a place and study then this is the best. The classrooms have fans and tube lights with comfortable chairs and desks. Classrooms contain whiteboards with projector functionality to display the content from laptops. The sports culture is very good and UPES has various tournaments like Cricket, Football, etc. And the college has its own Sports fest also. UPES has more than 20 social groups or clubs in the School of Engineering only and these clubs play an important role in the personality development of each individual.

The hostel rooms contain triple sharing rooms with bed, almirah, table, chair, and everything that should be in the room. The hostel menu contains early morning tea then breakfast which was very good followed by lunch which was average and then snacks and dinner. Overall. I can rate the quality of food as 3/5. The registration for the hostel is done at the time of orientation and you can also register for the hostel by visiting the manager for the hostel. Almost easy to have a seat in a campus hostel. I stayed in campus hostel for 3 years and the experience of the campus hostel was good but I suggest that you should stay at least for 1 year in campus hostel and then live in a Flat or pg outside the campus.
