Remarks
I applied for Gargi College under Delhi University before applying for Sri Venkateswara College (Delhi). I choose the latter because the faculty we and ranking vise if outperformed Gargi College. I availed for OBC non-creamy Quota and got some benefits by reduced percentage. The minimum marks were based on a cut-off list released by the college and changes every year. though I made just by a margin, had I gotten any less I don't have made it to this college. Delhi University is merit-based, so right after you complete your class 12, you can apply here, so no age criteria, but just merit-based. the admission process was very simple, you need to carry your class 1 marksheet or provisional certificate, with a migration certificate from the school (if not from Delhi), and caste certificate for verification. Once the above documents were verified from the different departments assigned, the professor from the respective course register you in the course.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course because of the diverse range of opportunities it provides after college. the growth is limitless. though the class strength was 80 students to 1 teacher, we had separate small batches of 10-20 students where teachers interacted individually and solved extra questions with doubt clearing sessions. All the teachers were P.Hd. holders from reputable colleges like JNU, Delhi school of economics. The teachers were very enthusiastic I bringing out all they had. they took extra lectures, did extracurricular activities, and sometimes put more effort than any student can ever expect. Exams were held regularly, almost after every month. They were based on what was taught in class, so if you listen carefully, the exams were easy, or else you can't make it through. the exams were practically application-based rather than rott learning-based.
Internships Opportunities
there were companies like SARSO, Flipkart, zomato, etc. the work ranged from sales to human resource manager, marketing head, etc. the stipend ranged from 2000 to 15000 and even more in some cases. Few were without stipend.
Placement Experience
the students are eligible for campus placement from the 3rd year, before that you can work as an intern in companies visiting the college. the companies are huge and so is their package, companies include KPMG, indigo airlines, Deloitte, PwC, ZS associates, zomato, etc. The highest package stood at 15L, with average ranging somewhere between 4-5L.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is quite affordable, personally never felt that the fee was expensive considering how other private institutes charge. There were regular seminars from placement cells (that link students to companies), and students had continuous opportunities to explore all sorts of job avenues.
Campus Life
There is a 3-day annual fest in late February every year, called - Nexus. The fets is soo fun. there is Sufi night, EMD night, and a star performance for 3 respective days. the whole college is decorated, there are games, photo corners, and limitless fun. the library is easy to access, there are many course-related books, there are journals, newspapers, and a separate reading room for your focused study. the classroom has projectors, which made e-class easier and fun. the best thing about this college is its huge playground, where you not only see but enjoy football matches, cricket matches, tennis, and whatnot. Even teachers participate making it more fun and engaging. There are plenty of societies in college, and you will definitely find one to suit your interest - there is a society for Hindi debate, English debate, poem writing and speaking, dancing (classical, western, etc.), entrepreneurship, dramatics, enterp and other social welfare societies like NSS, LFT, etc. The list is huge.
