An Awesome Experience of Academic Life

College is having a good Administration under Director. All the needs of students are well addressed via STUDENTS AFFAIRS COUNCIL, an elected council of students. Now a bus service have started inside the campus for students to ease commute which was a great help towards student community.

I got Admission through JEE MAIN and there was a four stage counseling at my time. I got the course that I preferred which is of my interest.

Course Curriculum is designed by a group of professors from inside and outside the college and is revised from time to time. So relevant topics are included and taught here. A Total of 160 credits is to be earned for the award of B.Tech degree. Also a CGPA of 5 is required for the same. First year is common accros different branches like that of other colleges.

Generally internships are not offered as far as IITs and other research institutes like IISc are considered. But yes, some students do internship under a faculty here, if faculty is interested.

Well talking of placements, NIT Calicut is having a good placement scenario compared to other colleges in the state and other too. Well known companies like Microsoft, Google, And indian PSUs like BPCL, HOCL Private companies like L&T, TCSetc do hire students from here.

Ragam! It's the cultural fest of our college. It's in the month of March. It's conducted in memory of Rajan, who was a student of NIT Calicut, the then REC Calicut. He is said to be a victim of Emergency of 1976, died after torturing of local authorities. Every year it is conducted well and is improved every year. Increased crowd shows the level to which it has reached. TATHVA is the technical Fest of NIT Calicut which is usually in September/October. It is organised by third years and lots of interesting events are there.

Now the fee Structure is not that expensive for a mid-earning family. Fee is like -₹1.25 lakh per annum for students with annual income greater than 5lakh -₹41k for 1-5 lakh -Nil for people having income less than 1 lakh. Scholarships offered by central/state govt is also there.

Several Scholarships are offered to students by the PTA of college. It's on merit basis as well as financial status. Apart from that Scholarships from Central/ State Govt which recovers full tuition fee is also there.

Campus life is so awesome. We'll love to be a part of it. Even though boys are more in count discrimination is not seen here. But yeah, Curfew exists for girl students, After 7 they are not permitted outside of hostel. Every festival and events are well celebrated in the campus. Lots of workshops are conducted as part of IEEE, ROBOTICS INTEREST GROUP, AERO UNWIRED, UNWIRED. There are clubs like ISTE, MATHEMATICS, ADVENTURE CLUB, ENQUIRE QUIZ CLUB, IPF. 50% of the students are from Kerala only because of Home State reservation and the rest majority are Telugu guys. Politics is not there in the campus.

Hostel facilities are not that bad. But most of the buildings are those from the time of REC. But it is well maintained. New hostel buildings are constructed in the campus which are of modern style and with good facilities. Rooms are sharing except that of fourth year it is single room. 24*7 Internet connectivity is another highlight. Hostel food is also good at a nominal price. Each month you can join a mess. Total of 9 Messes are there for boys out of which two are exclusively for first years. And four Messes for girls.

A network of good alumni is present here. Alumni meets are conducted here every year which is not only for a get together but also student community can mingle with them.

A subject is evaluated in a total of 100 marks out of which 50 is for final exam and 50 as internal. Internal 50 is again subdivided for two series of test and assignments, Surprise Tests, Presentations, Seminars, For lab courses, marks are awarded for records, viva, and final exam which may be practical or theory. It's not that hectic since slot system is followed here lot of free hours we get in between.

After rank announcement of JEE main we've to register at CSAB website and register our options. Options include all the NITs and centrally funded institutes. There's a spot round after the first four/three rounds. After getting allotted to college we are required to report to that college before last date.

Well qualified faculties are teaching here. They've got there qualifications from universities abroad also. Lack of permanently faculty is an issue here but it will not affect the course adversely. Along with the faculties PhD Scholars also help in teaching as Teaching Assistants. Faculties we are having at Chemical Department are very Helpful and Friendly. Really feels a home away from home.
