JEC- Shining Bright Since 1960

To get admission into Jorhat Engineering College, Jorhat, Assam, you have to write CEE (Combined Entrance Examination). CEE is the engineering entrance exam conducted by ASTU ( Assam Science and Technology University), under government of Assam. The application is done online in the CEE portal itself. I had been allotted a seat in the OBC(NCL) category. The improvement I want to see in the admission process is that it should be done online and the physical verification should not be stressed upon and moreover there should be options to pay the fees through UPI, Cheque or by cash instead of a bank draft.

I always have an interest in computer and therefore I wanted to pursue Computer Science and Engineering. There are a lot of faculties here and all of them are very helpful. I don't have any figures of the faculty: students ratio. Most of the faculties are IITians and almost all of the have a PhD degree. The exams here are preety straightforward - 3 CIEs and 1 sem end exam in each semester.

For first year students, they have to take an internship at a social welfare group and after that field internship, industrial internship etc are suggested by the college. Project making is a crucial task in our college.

From 6th semester onwards, students become eligible to sit for on campus placements. Many companies visit our college like Wipro, cognizant, Accenture, TCS etc. According to my knowledge, the highest package received from our college was 50+lacs (I've heard from others). As many as 90% students got placement offers. After getting the degree, I want to move to Germany to pursue a mTech degree in software development and data structure.

I've opted to avail OBC scholarship under NSP (National Scholarship Portal). I do not have any other financial assistance and my family provides the money required. I haven't got any job on campus till now but i look forward to do something.

There are many clubs and social groups in our college. There are clubs for dance, singing, music, acting, art and craft, sports etc. Phoenix Festival is the main festival here organised once a year. The students carry out many social works too.
