Remarks
The eligibility criteria for the degree was that your maths score should be above 55 or in the range of the college merit list because maths marks are considered for the merit list. You will find the application form in the ground floor office. If you are in the reservation category then the cut-off is on the lower side so chances are more to get selected. The addmission process is quite smooth so no need for improvement.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because in my hsc I was studing CS so I decided to continue with IT because the basic were strong. There were four divisions in which about 50-60 were in each division. The teachers who taught us were highly qualified and educated and also there teaching methods were up to the point. They were also friendly so asking them doubts was easy. Two exams are conducted in each sem of 20 and 60 marks the rest 15 marks were for project/assignment and 5 marks for attendance. Exams are not at all difficult and faculty helps you to prepare properly and also give important questions.
Internships Opportunities
The college has provided the summer internship through Internshala. The college will provide you with a recommendation letter to you as you have to search for an internship. In the third year of your degree, you will have to do a live project of your own. Where you can do it alone or in the team. This project will help you with your resume as you get to add it to your resume. An external will come to judge your project and give marks so make sure to understand what you are doing.
Placement Experience
In the third year, the campus placement begins where you will be attending a job fair on campus also. The big companies such as Infosys, LNT, Hexaware, TCS, etc come every year and hire a large no of students with a minimum package of 2.2 LPA. The criteria for eligibility are already mentioned by the companies and also the package they will be offering. Almost 70 to 80 percent get placed and the rest opt for higher education or have other plans. After getting the degree I decided to opt for MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are nearly 28000 to 30000 per year and all the facilities are also provided in that fee structure. If you are under the reservation category then you get to apply for many scholarships which will require valid proof also. For the open category there is no scholarship. If you want any job on campus you might ask for it.
Campus Life
Life on campus is amazing you will get to learn many things and also enhance one's skills. There is a tech-fest known as 'BITFEST' for the IT/CS department which is held in the month of August. One main annual fest known as 'ALEGRIA' is conducted in the month of February. The library is one of the good facilities on the campus where many books from different publishers are available and there is enough stock for everyone. The classroom has features such as a projector where lectures can be conducted through pdf or presentation. The Pillai college has many extracurricular activities such as sports, workshops where you get a certificate after completing it. The college also has a drama club, dance club, and fashion show club where each club has won many prizes in interschool competitions and also has a social club 'NSS' where you also get a certificate.
