Remarks
The admission was merit based. It is compulsory for you to have Mathematics in 12th boards and you must meet the cut off. The application form, fees, dates and all other required information can be found easily on Delhi University's website. The university has decided to conduct an entrance exam for all courses from the upcoming sessions. So, there will be a common ground on which students will get judged upon. I personally feel that this method will improve the admission procedure.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose BA (Hons) Economics as I want to go into the field of Data Analysis. The faculty student ratio might sound challenging as we have 1 teacher for around 100 students but the teachers are able to manage all the students. Many faculties are PhD in a particular subject and all others have Masters in their major. Teachers take classes regularly and are trying their best to take up all the doubts. Also, they have adapted the online mode properly. Being a first semester student, I haven't been given any semester exams yet.
Internships Opportunities
There are many companies like Ifortis Worldwide, leverage Edu, iplix media, Bajaj Capital, Top Hire etc which offer internships with stipends. The roles are human resource trainee, content writing, social media marketing, junior accountant manager, brand strategist, graphic designing etc.
Placement Experience
Mostly, students from semesters V and VI are eligible for placements. But, the placement cell provides internships for all the students which might help them in getting Pre Placement Offers. Companies like Decathlon, Planet Spark, S&P Global Market Intelligence, Oyo, Swiggy, Zomato, Byju's Urban Company, IDBI Federal Life Insurance Company, DE Shaw and Co etc have been our previous recruiters and there have been 400+ opportunities for students. The highest package is as high as 32.5 lakhs per annum. The average package is about 4 lakhs per annum. The percentage of students getting placed is about 20% which is quite low as most of the students plan to go for masters in their major. My plan after the degree is to pursue masters in economics while I want to make a career in the field of data analysis.
Fees and Financial Aid
As the University of Delhi is funded by the government, the fees are very minimal. Also, the fees of Satyawati College is low as compared to other DU Colleges. There are a lot of scholarships provided by central and state governments available for the needy. In some cases, students also get complete fee redemption.
Campus Life
All the societies have their annual fests in the month of February and March. A few examples of which are Innovision by Saksham (Placement and E Cell of our College), Parvaaz by The Third Act (Drama Society) etc. In these fests, along with stalls related to academics, there are also food stalls, game stalls and sometimes stages set up in the college ground for performances etc. The library has a lot of books and journals which are regularly updated. The classrooms have all the required facilities. Our college has a huge ground and a cricket pitch as well. The sports and extracurricular activities are properly taken care of. Satyawati Consulting Group is a student led community where students come up and solve real life problems.
Other Applied Colleges
Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College | BA (Hons) Economics
The area in which the college is located is a very low grade area and it would have been unsafe.
Deshbandhu College | BA (Hons) English
The course was my backup option
