Anonymous's Review On IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute Of Technology - [IITKGP], Kharagpur

IIT Kharagpur is a prestigious institution so getting a seat in any department is an achievement. I chose this college for its vast scope of knowledge as it has the most number of departments compared to any IIT's and people are naturally curious. IIT Kharagpur has the biggest library in Asia and there's no shortage of knowledge that can be assimilated in a student. The curriculum of IIT's is inter disciplinary so the students don't have to face the narrow niche of their departments. All in all IIT Kharagpur is a good institute and a chance that shouldn't be overlooked.

The course curriculum IIT Kharagpur Architecture is upto date and requires less modifications. The industrial exposure is done only in the 4th year so that must be changed to 2nd or 3rd year. Joy Sen sir was very good at teaching.

The internship in IIT Kharagpur Architecture department is a part of the curriculum. All fourth year students in their spring semester have to do 24 weeks of office training/ internship. It's easy to find an internship in Architecture. We just have to mail the Architecture studios and wait for the reply. I worked in W design studios at Hyderabad for 6000 INR per month. The highest stipend was 16500 INR per month at Arth design at Hyderabad.

Placements in any IIT is good but the competition among 1400 students is astounding. So if your CGPA is good and you've good extra curricular activities is your CV then placement is almost certain. The core placement in Architecture department is not upto the mark so many students opt for non core placements like data analysis or coding.

The campus life was very good and there are societies the students can join. They are very vast in their scope ranging form debating society to Robotics society. With more than 20 societies in college there's rarely any chance to rest. IIT Kharagpur has two main fests cultural and Tech fest they are spring fests and tech fest

Infrastructure in college was very good, With 2200 acres of land all the departments have their respective labs and classrooms. Cafe coffee days,gym, swimming pool, and 4 - 5 restaurants and 14 halls and canteens are sufficient for the life in campus.The area outside the campus is still not developed and it becomes difficult to go out for a change in venue.

The hostel is mandatory for students in IIT Kharagpur. The hostels might be old cause the institute was founded at 1951. The hostels for students till the pre final year is shared only in the final year the students get an individual 3x4 room. The only drawback is that there is no air conditioning and it's highly necessary in summers.
