Remarks
J.D. Birla Institute is one of the top most college in the city. I had heard a lot about this college from my peers in high school. On browsing more about the college I found the perfect match here with my aspirations and an environment where I would feel comfortable. Moreover, my college actively participates and organizes events throughout the year which gives all students an opportunity to explore world outside the classroom. It also has notable rankings which influenced my choice. The college also helps in imbibing discipline and timeliness in students. A number of prominent companies visit the college for on-campus recruitment every year. Hence, after evaluating all these factors I decided to join this college to pursue bachelor's degree.
Course Curriculum Overview
Our course syllabus is in alignment with the latest changes in the curriculum Our teachers keep giving real life examples to help us understand concepts better. Being a student of the faculty of commerce, I am satisfied with the teaching-learning process. Moreover, our college organizes short-term certificate programs for students to gain additional knowledge.
Placement Experience
A number of well-known companies visit the institute every year to conduct on-campus recruitment. Some of these are banks, small businesses, NGO's, etc. The institute provides a platform for students to connect with prospective employers.
College Events
J.D. Birla Institute organizes its own cultural fest which is an inter-department event and continues for 3 days. The faculty of commerce also organizes "Commercio Conclave" in which a number of renowned colleges in the city participate.
Campus Life
The campus of J.D. Birla Institute is located in a peaceful environment. Our campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Labs in the college are equipped with modern equipments. Each classroom has a large area with projectors. Conference rooms, auditorium, library, utility store are among some other features of the campus. There is a separate recreation area and cafeteria for students to socialize and enjoy breaks in between classes. The ground of the campus is beautifully decorated with flowers and maintained by the Nature Club.
Hostel Facilities
J.D. Birla Institute does not have a residential campus so students from outside Kolkata will have to seek accommodation in PGs. I have not opted for hostel since I reside in the same city but a number of PGs are located near the campus that provide a safe and secure environment.
