NIT Calicut Review

I wanted to be part of NIT Calicut because the CSE program for B.Tech is the flagship course of NIT Calicut and the placement record for the CSE program in NIT Calicut is very good. There are very few colleges in India that provide CSE as a flagship- course and the college is itself popular for its CSE program. So, I really worked very hard for my JEE exam and in my academics so that I can meet the cutoff criteria for the college my hard work paid me off and I was eligible for NIT Calicut according to my JEE rank. After passing JEE exam I have to appear for JOSAA counselling. To be part of NIT Calicut I passed JEE mains and secured a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2.

The college is quite popular for its CSE program. The curriculum is according to the latest industrial norms that follow national and international standards. The curriculum is designed to impart to us the basics of engineering concepts, technical and managerial skills that help us to understand the importance of technology in the modern world of industry.

The internship program is part of the curriculum. We are eligible for an internship program after completing the 3 years of our program. The college placement committee guides us for the internship program. They help us to select the company according to our interests. The stipend ranges from Rs. 25000/- to Rs. 1,25,000/-.

The college provides one of the best placements for the CSE program. The college has a 100% placement record. The college placement committee is very supportive they guide us throughout the placement process. The highest package for our batch was around 40 LPA and the average package was around 10.75 LPA. Companies like Accenture, Amazon, Bajaj Auto, CGI India, Capgemini, Big Basket, DE Shaw, Microsoft, Google, Samsung, etc visited our campus during the placement drive.

The campus life of the college is marvellous. There are two main big fests Tathva is organised in the month of August and it is a technical fest and Ragam is organised in the month of January and it is a cultural fest of the college. These two fests are very popular among us. The college classrooms are big and spacious that accommodate around 80 students at a time. The college library is big and equipped with lots of books and international research journals.

The hostel rooms are shared by two students at a time. The rooms are big and spacious and equipped with 2 beds, 2 study tables and 2 almirahs. The hostel is well maintained and is the rooms are cleaned 5 times a week. The mess food of the hostel is healthy and tasty but the menu is limited. The plus point is that there are 14 hostels and every hostel has a separate mess so we can change the mess according to our interest by paying a charge of Rs. 83/- per day. The hostel also provides us with 24 hours internet facility.

The faculty of the college is of PhD level with industrial exposure which is very beneficial for us. The teaching methods of the faculty are so good that we remain hooked in the class and can understand the concepts properly.
