NIT Silchar Review

I was allotted NIT Silchar during my JOSAA counselling but NIT Silchar did not disappoint me the college was like a blessing in disguise for me because the college provides one of the best CSE programs for B.Tech and a good placement record for even B.Tech. NIT Silchar is ranked 9 among all the NITs in India and NIT Silchar is the first college to have the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) which really gives us a good opportunity for research activity. To be part of NIT Silchar I have to clear JEE exam and have to secure a minimum of 75% marks which I was able to get. After clearing the JEE I have to appear for JOSAA counselling and I was allotted NIT Silchar during my JOSAA counselling.

The curriculum is one of the best I can say that because it is according to international industrial standards and norms. The college provides us with one of the top class faculty for our subjects. The curriculum is designed to enhance our analytical knowledge and decision-making capabilities so that we can attain professional excellence and develop mental toughness through our program.

The placement committee is very helpful during the time of internship they provide us with the list of companies that are going to visit the campus during the internship program. We are eligible for the internship after completing the 3rd year of our program. The stipends for the internship starts from Rs. 26000/- to Rs. 1,50,000/-. Around 30+ companies visited our campus for the internship programs.

NIT Silchar provides a very good placement for CSE. The college is itself very popular for placement for CSE. The college has a record of 100% placement. The college placement committee is an expert and they are able to attract a good number of companies and market leaders for placement on campus. The committee helps us and guides us throughout the placement drive and they make sure that we are placed as per our interest why I am saying this is because of the placement committee guidance I was able to receive the package of 18 LPA. The highest package for our batch was around 40 LPA and the average package was around 12.50 LPA. Amazon India, Goldman Sachs, Publicis Sapient, Lowe’s India, Fanatics, Amdocs, Innovaccer, Commvault, Microsoft, Google, etc participated in the college placement drive.

The college provides scholarships on a merit basis. Scholarships for SC/ST/PwD is also available. There are around more than 5+ scholarship programs through which college funds the scholarships. The campus life of the college is good and the vibe is very friendly. The seniors and the administrative staff of the college are very friendly. There are students run clubs like ASME, MES, TWARAN, etc that we can be part of. The college organises a number of quizzes, debates and drama and singing competitions. Most of the functions and programs are organised by the different student's clubs. The college library is equipped with all types of books around the world and from different types of authors and international journals are also available.

The hostel rooms are good and equipped with beds, study tables and almirahs for every student. The hostel is well maintained and kept very clean. The mess food is good but the menu is limited we get bored very easily after few days. But the hostel has a cafeteria facility on the campus and we usually have are food from the cafeteria. The rooms are cleaned on daily basis. The hostel is equipped with all kinds of basic facilities according to our needs and requirements.

The college faculty is really very experienced. Most of the faculty members are PhD holders in their respective subjects. The faculty members are very experienced in teaching methods they bring unique methods in the class to teach us and we are also hooked so much that we can understand each concept very nicely.
