Remarks

Dyal Singh College is under Delhi university so there is no specialized exam till my batch but as of now, admissions will be based on CUET. Everyone is eligible for the exam and the form and fee are paid online mode only. Reservation/ECA/ Sports quota is available but I did not avail any reservation.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Political science is Delhi University is very dynamic and is similar to the PSIR optional Civil Services exam that's why I chose Pol Sci honors. The faculty of Dyal Singh College is One of the best at Delhi University. we have around 20 teachers in the pol sci dept and approx 240 students. Term exams are usually timely around April and the other is in august, exams are a bit tough one has to write a lot of theory, and it's very difficult to fetch full marks. Even after writing 15 pages, one gets average marks and there are internal marks too based on a class test or assignment. 75% Attendance is mandatory so one has to be regular in classes.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Internships are available from the very first day, you will get contacted by the placement cell regarding internships through email or class CR. Internships are available mostly in a very short range of field such as content writing, digital marketing, human resource, graphic designing, sales and development/business associates. Content writing ranges from weeks to 3 months and then can be extended and is mostly a performance-based stipend ranging from 2k - 5k per month. Digital marketing and sales are performed based and the stipend is based on no. Of sales/ commission, the average is 5k. Business development provides the best offer with a stipend ranging from 10k-20 k per month and a certificate is provided in all. Various companies for which I have received internships are Youth Action prog. UNCTAD, Zaamo, MAAC, Snapdeal, Zayba Salon, pracbee, Thewiseowl, etc. NOC is not provided by the college which is a major drawback u will have to miss classes.

Placement Experience

3

There is an active placement cell in Dyal Singh college. Students are eligible from the very first semester but NOC is not provided by a college so it is advised to take an internship after 4th semester. Internships are mostly for language and commerce students. Most of the opportunities are in the sectors of Marketing, content writing, and human resource. As a student of political science, I don't get to grab the best internships but yeah many are open for all courses and many students get selected. We had internships from UNCTAD, MAAC, Zaamo, Snapdeal, WWF: Youth India, etc. Some internships are only certificate-based but many have stipends ranging from 2k per month to 20k per month. Very less number of students get placed mainly 4-5 from each dept. I would prepare for Civil Services after getting the degree of Pol Sci Hons with PSIR as optional.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees in Dyal singh college are very less and nominal when compared to St Stephen's and hindu clg and other private colleges. My fees was 13k for A year for Honours in Political Science. There are a huge number of internships which are provided by our Placement cell and with stipend ranging from 2k to 30k. The scholarship is also provided to needy students I m not sure about the amount but yes there is a provision for scholarships which many students avail themselves of online. And moreover, 10k rs and momento are also given to dept top scorers by Delhi University.

Campus Life

3.5

The annual fest of Dyal Singh College is Priyadarshini which takes place usually around Feb but this year took place in April and various competitions were held during the fest. Apart from this all depts. and societies conduct their own fest with cash prizes ranging from 500 to 5000. Social life is amazing in Du when u become a part of it u become part of the Delhi circuit and u can participate in any event, competition, etc throughout DU. There are various clubs one can join according to their interest and various student-run groups which provide study material and exam help to fresher students. Sports activities are not very much in Dyal Singh College there are only a few opportunities and the ground is mostly occupied by seniors. Classrooms are not very good and don't have ac, just a few slow fans.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
