Remarks
Based on my personal experience if anyone is unable to get into IIT due to any reason no one needed to be upset because IIITs can also become very good options for starting a graduate program to become an engineer. IIIT Kottayam is also one of the options I was allowed a seat in the college during my JOSAA counselling as I was meeting the college cutoff marks. IIIT Kottayam is a very good college with very good educational standards and good placement offers. My admission process at the college was very simple and hassle-free.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college was newly established so the curriculum was the latest plus the college curriculum meets international industrial guidelines and standards. The curriculum properly helps us to understand the cyber threats and fraud and how to deal with them and how to prevent technology advanced machinery from it. The faculty plays a very important role because most of the concepts are very complicated but the faculty are so expert that they can break down complicated subjects into easy parts and make us understand. The faculty teaching standards were very high and at the same time simple to they were properly aware of the complexity of the syllabus so they help us to break down the syllabus into parts so that we can understand.
Internships Opportunities
The college internship program are the backbone of the curriculum as internship help us to implement our academic knowledge in the corporate world and not only that the internship is a very good experience to learn about the current technological changes. The average stipend for the internship was around 45000.
Placement Experience
Everyone thinks that good placement packages can be received through only IIMs or IITs but that is not always true IIIT Kottayam is one of the colleges that can compete with top IITs in terms of placement packages. The college is able to maintain a 100% placement record and the highest salary package goes up to 35 LPA and the average package was around 14 LPA. The placement committee of the college is also full of professional and experienced faculty members.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college complete fee of 8 lakh may be on the higher side but the college average placement is around 10-14 LPA which is a very good return on investment. The college does not have any individual scholarship schemes but central and state scholarships schemes are available. The college also provides an education loan facility.
Campus Life
The campus life of the college is very happening. As being the B.Tech students our time is mostly invested in completing the assignments. College provides a very good environment for studies and project work activity. The college annual fest is DHRUVA but most of my batchmates were busy with assignments so we did not participate so I can not tell about the college fest and programs. The college has facilities like Gym, Big Open Air Auditorium, Labs are highly modern, the classrooms are spacious, and the campus has a WiFi facility.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel has all the facilities. The rooms are fully furnished with beds, a study table and almirahs for every one of us. The bathrooms and rooms are cleaned 5 days a week. The hostel menu keeps on changing at regular intervals. The mess food is good and healthy. The hostel has indoor sports facilities like an indoor volleyball court, badminton court, carrom, chess and many more. The hostel security is also very good.
