I completed my senior secondary class with Physics Chemistry and Mathematics For being a NAVAL CADET ( students here are often called by this term ) here, you will need to go through the IMUCET exam which is Conducted One time For BTech. You can find its application forms on the official Website of Indian Marine University the cost of the form is around 1100 rupees and the exam is conducted in Online computer Based mode

To Enter the Field of the Merchant Navy as an Engineer, you will need to Complete B.TECH in MARINE ENGINEERING which is a 4-year course that consists of both theories as well as practical classes on the ships. I was always fond of the sea and Ships, that's why I chose this course The teachers are here former Marine Engineers of the rank Chief Engineers. The Exams are Semester wise.

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 225000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The Indian Maritime University has fixed the Fees of Btech as rupees 225000 per year in all the branches that are affiliated with the IMU The course is a full-time course, so this fee also includes hostel charges. I am not getting any Scholarship as I am not a brilliant student, but if you work hard in your term exams and get good results, you can apply in college for financial help.

Campus Life

As we stay at the college full time, we have observed the campus a lot. The campus life is really really amazing and thrilling at the same time the best part is that when we are on the real ship for the practical sessions. The library of the college is also very good we used to study there till night as the environment there is very silent and pleasant.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Good for placements, excellent hostel life and good to learn, apply and fun. A college for all round development.

I have searched for many other colleges but i chose this because it is the oldest marine engineering college and has a benchmark legacy, and this college has shaped the merchant navy of the nation. It has been known for producing the finest marine engineers. I preffered marine engineering over other courses because this is a type of training that ensures your wholesome development. DMET- Who Is Making a Skilled Engineers

My college ( IMU Kolkata Campus) also known as DMET is one of the best marine engineering college from all over the world because here we learn how to handle bad situations, discipline and creates the eco friendly environment in between the senior and juniors as well as the batchmates and help each other in difficult times.
