College life, best life!

Great intellectual mix of students, focus on extra curriculum and encouragement to diversify beyong regular course work. Infrastructure facility is not that upto the mark.

Apart from DU colleges which conduct seperate entrance examinations(like for BMS), there are no other entrance examinations I gave. The moment I entered 11th I had my mind set that I want to pursue Economic hons, as most of Humanities students push themselves to Law and I didn't want to go with the hurdle. While this course provided me with mental challenges as I wanted.

The course curriculum for B.A Economics expands from economic sector in markets to households. Hence covering every area of expertise required for ones pursuing this field. Electives will be provided in Semesters 5 and 6, where we can choose anything ranging the economic impact on health end education toh the market influence.

The college does not provide us with internships as it is bachelors. Though the teachers are helpful and recommend a few opportunities. Also, being a DU student you automatically open up to opportunities.There are certain companies who put out workshops to interact with students and provide them internship opportunities. In general internship stipend if u work with reputed companies you are paid around 1-2k per month with a certificate and a lot of experience.

Some of the companies that have been coming over the past years are with their average packages of: Mckinsey Knowledge Centre - 6 Lacs per annum, Capital IQ - INR 3.8 Lacs per annum, Hewitt - INR 4.2 Lacs per annum, Google - INR 4 Lacs per annum. Being a top college of DU almost all students are placed.

Main fest of Venkatesawar is Nexus, a 3 day event with star nights and celebrities coming all over. A lot of competitions and cultural activities are organised for a footfall of 2000-3000. For economics students, main event is Bliss Point. It is held at National level with colleges from other states also participating.

Being a DU college, the fees is quite nominal and affordable. It is feasible as compared to other colleges offering the same course. This course has an annual fee of approx 14,000 making it 7,000 per semester. Which makes it a total of 42,000 for the 3 year course.

Student who apply for scholarship definitely can definitely get it in their quota. Students are given laptop for their studies. Loan facilities I am not sure of.

Campus life was one of the best times of growing up. we had lot of cultural societies like debating, singing, theatre, sports and dance.Gender ratio was very balanced with almost equal percentage of male and females. As DU is a very affordable institution so people from all sections of the society had access and were enrolled in the course. And so we get to interact with people of different social backgrounds, caste, orientation, stats etc.

There are limited seats in hostel so there is just like a competition for that, And has a mess which is so in budget that we can desire alot to have on our table, the college of variety too both south indian and north indian food are supplied to the students.

There are many famous alumni from our college. Talking about seniors, they have been a lot of help. They are all fun and provide us with many helpful insights.

The good thing about exams in DU is that subjects are a bit less in number. And so enough preparatory leaves were given which releaved us of some stress. Though a little more Q&A sessions with the teachers before the exams would help. As far as internals are considered, the teachers are good enough to take them according to the convenience of the students.

Few were very good. For 1-2 subjects there was a huge gap before we got a professor. Also, got few ad hoc professors who were finishing their Phd from JNY, they were not very regular not too experienced. But the regular faculty is really good. Though they do cancel a few classes sometimes.
