Entrance Preview

I have took IMUCET entrance exam. This exam is conducted every year in the month of may and students from all over india took this test. This enterance exam is very difficult.

Internships Opportunities

There is no internship is given by the college in B.tech but i think in the higher courses some stipends or internship given to the Marine Engineering students. MERI has a workshop with machinery, equipment and steam and diesel power plants for training and to meet IMO and AICTE requirements. Students visit marine workshops for on the job training and they pay in the form of stipend.

Job opportunities is really very impressive in the Marine college, kolkata. After completing the engineering most of the students is hired by the several companies. Institute holds 100% placement records through its active placement cell. Institute trained the young bloods through various activities such mock interviews, hands on training, real cases etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are many scholarships provided by various shipping company provided students fullfills their criteria. Scholarships Name and seat Government of India- for all SC/ST cadets. Government of India merit scholarship .

Alumni/Alumna

The best thing about the seniors are that they are always ready to help their juniors and guide them. Most of the seniors are on major rank or post which helps the junior to get to their rank easily.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Good for placements, excellent hostel life and good to learn, apply and fun. A college for all round development.

I have searched for many other colleges but i chose this because it is the oldest marine engineering college and has a benchmark legacy, and this college has shaped the merchant navy of the nation. It has been known for producing the finest marine engineers. I preffered marine engineering over other courses because this is a type of training that ensures your wholesome development.
