Remarks

my overall experince at Dyal Singh College was amazing.

Entrance Preview

I got admission in Dyal Singh College via. my 12 standard marks( University of Delhi's second cut off list. this college is situated at the best location and has a exquisite environment as compared to other colleges in which i was eligible for admission also this college is very lively and vivid in terms of students, extra curricular activities and teachers. since I did a language course, it was very difficult to score good marks but by the grace of god I cleared all subjects in first division. the Indian Habitat Center is in close proximity with this college and this makes the college even more socially splendid.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum for English Literature is same through all the colleges under the University of Delhi flagship. the subjects are very different from the regular studies done in schools. the major focus in it was on the Victorian era and the background of the world war period that effected the writing styles of many authors and poets.

Internships Opportunities

No, unfortunately there are no provisions for providing internship to the students. although, there is a full fledged placement cell that ensured the deserving and willing students are supplied with sufficient opportunities.

Placement Experience

3

the college has its own placement cell that supplies sufficient opportunities to the deserving and willing students. many good companies visit the premise of the college for Campus placements like Concentrix, IBM, ICICI, Anti Alias etc. from 2015 onwards some companies have even started offering internships to the needfuls also.

College Events

3.5

our college had many events like Annual festival Priyadarshini and english literature festival Madrigal along with continuous talent competitions like debate, spic macays, etc. these events created a very positive spirit amongst all the students and gave insights to them about the market scenerios.

Fee Structure And Facilities

the fee was very feasable, the per semester fee was about INR 5500 only and addition to this 500 were paid as the examination fees in all the semesters. this was a very nominal amount which was easily paid by all the students easily without any added burden of hidden costs.

Fees and Financial Aid

there was a concession scheme offered to the underprivileged students i.e lower fee by showing the SC/ST/OBC certificates along with the salary proofs.

Campus Life

4

contrary to the societal trends, Dyal Singh College had more of girls students instead of male students. one of the best thing about this college is that, it promotes women empowerment and education by giving relaxation to females during the admissions.

Hostel Facilities

2

the canteen in Dyal Singh College renews its tender after a specific period. while I studied there the tender was revised once and both the agencies effectively managed the canteen with very nominal prices although the quality was not up to the mark and many a times students complained about the hygiene issues.

Alumni/Alumna

the senior students or the alumnus were very helpful. whenever there were any events in the college the alumnus were invited to mentor the fresh studnts and to guide them thoroughly in various fields like music, dramatics etc

Exam Structure

the exam pattern again is not decided by the college rather it is framed by the university. there is an internal per subject and the ultimate final exams that's it. the internals are taken by the respective teachers as per their convenience and teaching style. in addition to this there are 5 marks for attendance. there is no burden on the students.

Admission

to get admission in any of the colleges under University of Delhi, one has to secure atleast a minimum of 85% in 12th standard. Dyal Singh too had this criteria and the respective qualifying marks are communicated to prospects via newspapers. I secured 87% in 12th standard still I wasn't able to get admission in my desired colleges so I waited for the second cut off list and atlast got admission in Dyal Singh Morning College.

Faculty

4

Dyal Singh College's english faculty is renowned in entire university for its talent nd skills of connecting well with the students by not merely stressing upon the course outline, rather focusing on the overall knowledge development of the students.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
