IIT Roorkee has a great history, it was founded in 1857 as Roorkee college of civil engineering after Independence, it transformed to the university of Roorkee and in the year 2011, it was declared as Indian institute of technolgy. I feel proud to be an alumnus of IIT Roorkee

Exam - IIT JEE, 2011, I scored 289/480 and my rank is 2658. I chose this college because it is an old IIT and is offering the course Production and industrial engineering which is very much similar to mechanical engineering.

The first year of our college has a common curriculum for all the branches. Courses from all the departments were included in it. From the second year to final year courses of a department are available to students of that department. Students are also provided with a facility to do courses from other departments by choosing electives in different departments.

Yes, college provides opportunities to avail internships, Top companies like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs etc visited our college to provide internships. The stipend varies from company to company.

Placements in our college are good, starting from the 1st of December and continues till the end of the semester. Departments like computer science and electronics have 100 percent placements. Whereas departments like mechanical engineering, electrical engineering have more than 70 percent placements. THE average CTC of the mechanical engineering department is around 8 lakhs

There are two major festivals celebrated in the college. Cultural fest thomso in the autumn semester and technical fest cognizance in the spring semester. Along with these fests, there are also events like Bhawan days of each and every hostel, hobbies club day, etc

Fee structure contains 2 parts 1st college fees - Rs 38000 per semester hostel fees = 12000 per semester i don't think this is expensive when compared to other colleges the fees are very much feasible also loans are provided to students. Total fees per 1 year are around Rs 1 lakh (50k per sem)

The loan facility is available to all the students. Also, there is a scholarship named Merit cum mean scholar ship provided to students based on their performance in academics. Eligibility to apply for this scholarship is to not have any backlog and parents income should be less than 5.5 lakhs per annum

Like in all IITs gender ratio is very pathetic. The boys to girls ratio is around 10: 1. College provides many facilities for students in extracurricular activities. Music section Choreo section, a Movie section, program management, photography section, gardening section, star gazing section, robotics section, electronics section are available in the college.

Each and every hostel is provided with a separate mess. Though the taste of food is not so good, the quality of food is properly maintained. Every hostel has the facility of canteen, Tv room, gym, Stationery store. Few hostels have atm facilities also. Mess council is formed from elected students of the hostel and they decide the menu of the mess

The college has a great history It was founded in 1857. so the network of alumni of the college is very strong. They are very helpful, They bring many companies to colleges for placements and internship. Also, provide major contributions for funds to festivals

Exam structure contains one mid-term evaluation, one practical, viva (practical and viva for particular courses only), and final examination. Midterm carries a weightage of 25 percent to 40 percent 50 percent weightage to the final exam and rest to practicals

After JEE 2011 results are declared, the students who have qualified were asked to fill the form, showing our interest to join the college and pay a fee of Rs 10000, Later we were asked to submit the preference criteria of our college and branch. After around two weeks we were sent a letter from the college in which we got admission. Fee structure, reporting date are mentioned in the letter.

Professors of the college are very much qualified, who have completed their PhDs. in their respective disciplines. Professors are classified into 3 categories based on their experience and skill namely junior professor, Assistant professor, and senior professor.
