College lf national importance - NITC

To get admission to the National Institute of Technology Calicut, for B.tech, we have to write jee mains( entrance exam)( fees - approx -650 per attempt for male candidates). We will choose nits based on the rank we got in jee mains. After getting ranked in jee mains, josaa will conduct counseling in which we have to fill list of colleges we want according to our rank in order. Finally based on our rank college seats will be allotted, and we should pay the seat acceptance fee( which will be adjusted later in college fees). Some reservations are also there for sc/st, obc, etc of which updated details will be given at the time of josaa.

I choose electrical and electronics engineering because I liked the electrical portion of jee Main, and according to my jee rank this was the branch which I may get at the national institute of technology Calicut. For each branch, 2 batches are there. For example for electrical and electronics engineering- k and c batch are there. And approx strength in each batch is 87, so a total of around 170-180 students. Per batch per course, 1 teacher is allowed, and certain assistant teachers are also there. So including assistant teachers, there is one faculty per 30 students. Faculty are well qualified, but in the end, we should do our preparation for exams using online resources. Exams are moderately difficult. There are mid sem + end sem + some quizzes for internal marks .there is a gap of 1 month between mid sem and end semester.

Many internship opportunities are given in the training and placement cell of the national institute of technology Calicut. Internships are majorly pre-placement offers, that is you get direct job offers after a degree. Many companies like Samsung, Intel, Qualcomm, etc. comes for pre-placement offer.

Students from 5 to semester are eligible for pre-placement offers, and students from 7 to semester are eligible for campus placement. Electrical and electronics engineering companies like Samsung and Qualcomm and many other companies are visiting. The average package is around 9.55 lakh. The highest package is around 31 lakh. 95% of students are placed in electrical and electronics engineering. I will also take campus placement after my degree.

For the general category, students' fees are 62500 per semester, or equivalently 125000 per year. Based on category and income there is some fee reimbursement. For example, for sc/ st and Ph.D. - tuition fees are zero. For income between 1-5 lakh, 2/3 tuition fees are reimbursed. For income less than 1 lakh, total tuition fees are reimbursed.

The most famous fests in the national institute of technology Calicut are "ragam" and "tathva". A sufficient number of books are available in Library, and also a soft copy of all books is given by faculty to students via link .there are many clubs conducted such as coding club, math's club, finance club, etc. Big grounds are also available for playing sports

Hostel facility for freshers ( 1 st year) B.Tech is not that good, but sufficient .4 students staying per room, common bathrooms, 24/ 7 electricity, Wi-Fi ( congested),24/7 water ( both drinking and normal) are facilities. Once you join college you have to fill out the form in the hostel office and you are allotted a hostel room. Hostel fees are 1659 per month, and mess fees are 120 per day, and some extra prices for some food items like juice, fruits, milkshake, etc.
