Remarks
When I took admission, it was based on a cutoff (min 5) system based on different categories. In the 1st cutoff itself, I got a PGDAV EVENING COLLEGE from Delhi University. It got posted on the official website of DU, you can download that cutoff pdf and accordingly can apply to one or more than one college if you are eligible. If you are eligible in more than one college you have the liberty to choose any of them, where these reviews helped me a lot.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as I was from a humanities background from 12th itself and in that 2 years of high school, I get to know more about political science which seems something very interesting & it also helps a lot in the UPSC journey. The faculties of my college especially my department are highly qualified and helpful in nature. Lectures are very interesting and most of them teach by linking topics to current scenarios of the world, that happening around us. Our semesters were short because of COVID, still, professors let us manage our syllabus, and time-to-time class tests helped a lot in this.
Internships Opportunities
In Political Science Dept, you'll not get very many internship opportunities here, you have to keep searching for that outside, yet one can join NGOs and Societies which provide internships like recently environment society and enactus cell of our college collaborated with IPCA for paid internships. But specifically in the Political Science department, there are no such internship opportunities available.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is a bit high in my college as compared to other DU colleges, 2nd thing not having a hostel also costs students living in this area but is costly. I haven't got any scholarships yet, but recently govt. has provided some assistance of about 10k monthly to J&K students under Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Yojana PM-USP. One week ago one more scholarship program was being held but that was only for 3rd year undergraduate students under BYPL SASHAKT Scholarship 2022-23.
Campus Life
There are ample opportunities on campus, infrastructures, societies are working very hard in every field from the environment to personality development. 'Falak' is the annual fest conducted in college, as I was having a previous year full of covid restrictions, we got an online annual event in April, yet it was something to remember. There was a greater footfall in participation and you can perceive the exposure it provides. The library is well equipped with books, journals, and four to five eng/Hindi newspapers, if you are an honors student you'll be provided 3 library cards and on that, you can issue 3 books at a time. College provides ample opportunities in extracurriculars, but a bit low in sports as I observed. There are many societies that are working and very reputed in DU circle like the environment society of college SRISHTI is highly reputed, SAVI (STUDENTS ASSOCIATION FOR VERBAL INTERACTION) works in the field of personality development by working on communication skills, etc.
