Remarks

While filling out the application form all the important documents need to be filled it (as in you can attach the images usually in png/jpg format). The 10th mark sheet and 12th mark sheet are a must. The application form can be easily found on the official DU website (Miranda House is a part of Delhi University). I am a general category student so I did not apply for any category reservation, but that can be easily availed by proving government proof. The admission process can be way smooth if the administration would be effective working. Some faculty members slack off while working- but all in all they are alright. It can be categorized as a bit confusing especially if you aren't tech-savvy- plus the website crashes on several occasions- which can be easily fixed.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

While choosing my course and college, my preference was more options for a master's. A general course like BA Programme opens at least two doors for a master's (in my case History, Philosophy- my disciplines and English- I took Eng. as my General Elective). The faculty is quite up to the mark and qualified (Ph.D.) for most courses which are pretty impressive, this being said the teaching methods are pretty classic- not innovative. That is because the exam patterns are pretty fixed for the past many years... but that makes it easy to pass and score okayish (average cgpa is 6-8, which is pretty decent).

Internships Opportunities

4

The E-cell/ Placement cell does give many options. Eg. HDFC did a placement drive and picked up many students for PR Outreach. Many such other opportunities are available. Government funded companies also do come. Students from BE.Led also get to do an internship in their 4th year, working in a government school.

Placement Experience

3.5

Honestly as mentioned before the placement cell is pretty active, hence most of the students that wish to opt for on-campus placement, there are a host lot of options to choose from. The Miranda House official website provides an option to apply for the placement cell which then gives updates on companies that come. That being said most of the students opt for studying further after this BA Degree. But if someone wishes to have a gap year can easily choose so do so as Miranda House comes will a legacy of its own.

Fees and Financial Aid

Considering Miranda House is completely a government college, the fees are very decent (around 16 k per Semester- which is pretty low in itself). That being said, EWS students get benefits while taking the admission and can opt for a scholarship (that is based on merit- one needs to score pretty high to avail of such options). Placement cell is mostly a student body, but is quite active- if you sit in placements, there is a high chance that you will end up with one or more options to choose from. And obviously during Semester breaks students can opt for an Internship (off campus via LinkedIn etc. Eg. During the sem break before the 5th Semester- I worked as an intern for two months).

Campus Life

4

Tempest is the annual fest that is made a success year after year by the presence of the student body. Being in a government college, especially a college like DU opens vast oceans of opportunities for extracurriculars. So many society options are available for students to choose from eg. Anukriti (Hindi Dramatics Society), Mridang (Classical dance Society), Tanz (Western Dance Society), etc. to name a few. A well-equipped library is inbuilt on the college campus which is open until 7 PM (it provides a quiet study time for students too).

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
